Kabus: No one forcing you buy from here. You know, you can get under £5 even $0.00 if you want.
You're quite right, and I am very glad nobody are doing that. Because I would not feel good if I was forced to buy it from here.

But you know, it was a general comment. It wasn't "lower your price or I won't buy it" - I'm not that self-centered. The thing is: If GOG wants to compete with the established guys, they need to be competitive. And though they might not like it, price is the main issue for most people. Not extras, DRM or whatever. It's price. And this game is too expensive (something I suspect will be the case for most of the "premium edition" games GOG are planning to sell, but we'll see).

This is the issue made from sharks like Valve... we destroy everybody with low deals and then we can do whatever we want. And with the deal atm 20$ for HOMM V+AC1 you still get AC1 cheaper than Steam/Ubistore :)
Price point is for people that can't afford it. Not for spoiled ones that want games for 1-2-3$.

Ffs people need to understand that Ubisoft said: AC1 - 20$/HOMM V - 20$ end of the disscussion :)

Actually the price I quoted (which was wrong, it's more like £4) is from Amazon. And it's not a special offer, it's the regular price of the boxed budget version.

hedwards: Plus, this isn't an old game and it isn't an indie game, so why on Earth is it being sold here? And people wondered why other people were complaining about the lack of focus as of late in game selections.
It's a 4.5 years old game as far as games goes nearly 5 years can definitely be considered as "old", and we already had a lot "younger" games released here (King's Bounty was roughly 2 years old when it was released)

I agree that 20$ is expensive, I could buy the retail HOMM collection (all games in the serie) for the same price and AC for half, but I suspect they didn't had the choice. I just hope the publishers won't abuse of this new price point and ask that all somewhat recent games to be released for 19.99$.

I suspect they will. Back when new price points was being discussed, that was always my argument against it.

mobutu: You have to start from somewhere and evolve from there.
It's just that simple and logical.
I agree, but moving away from a unique product to something freely available and charging what is in some cases an inflated price isn't.

At this stage though GOG is going through some impressive changes and there are bound to be bugs to be worked out so I'm will to see how things work out.
Kudos to you, GOG, for picking Ubisoft.

Sadly, I purchased Assassins Creed on Steam the last Christmas. I usually buy games here even if I have them but this game is really extremely monotonous, so I will pass this time.
HoMM isn't my thing.

I look forward to see next announcements.

drewpants: I agree, but moving away from a unique product...
They are not "moving away", they have said it countless times again and again but i guess some people just don't believe them no matter what they say.
They simply added "new products" to that "unique product" they started with.
Again, simple and logical.
I hope no one buys this. We should treat Ubisoft with the same contempt they treat PC gamers with.

And go whine about it on Steam/GamersGate/Ubistore ...cause it's not 4 pounds on there :) And do you put delivery to that prize?

Assassin's Creed - Directors Cut Edition (PC DVD) - £4.50
Assassin's Creed Revelations - £12.92

So should I feel screwed up buy Steam/GamersGate/Ubisoft for that pricing?
In two weeks one "true" retro title has been released while indie/newer titles have taken the release slots. That's a move away from old games.

The newer titles offer little in way of insentive at their current price points.

hedwards: I disagree with that, AC suffered for the near complete lack of variety in the main quest line. I've finished both AC2 and AC:B because there was better variety in the quests and the mechanics worked much better than they did in the original.
I just thought that "variety" was a bunch of fluff I didn't want to do. Agree to disagree.
It's the "newer, bigger, fresher" campaign.
What did you expect them to announce? Some dinosaur from the prehistoric age?

It's just 2 weeks in the new campaign, its normal to release newer games.
At least let them some time before making such statements.
20 $ for AC? O.o
For this price on amazon i can purchase AC + AC2 + Brotherhood, and in a few months even Revelation.
I'm stunned. That's quite cool actually, though the price is a litte hefty considering that i can get the regular release for half.
