Desmond Miles is a bartender, a simple lad who is abducted by a mysterious organization and attached to the Animus, a strange machine that allows him to access his ancestor’s memories. Now he--and you--can see the events that happened in the year 1191, the time of the third crusade in the Holy Land vividly, and Desmond find himself assuming the role of Altaïr ibn La-Ahad, a merciless killer that carries out assassinations ordered by the most mysterious and deadliest clan of assassins.

Assassin’s Creed: Director’s Cut Edition is a game that redefined the action genre with open gameplay, intuitive controls, incredibly fluid combat mechanics, and realistic interactions with the world surrounding you. Every architectural detail like window ledges, carvings in the stone or wooden bars can be used to as environmental props for fluid, acrobatic movement. Depending on your choices, the crowd will allow you to blend in or expose you to the guards. There are many ways to reach your goals, but the result must be always lethal. Stunning graphics and crisp sound effects complete the perfect gaming experience Assassin’s Creed has to offer.

The Director’s Cut Edition features improved artificial intelligence, more detailed graphics, some smaller additions and improvements, and most noticeably, four new missions, including the Roof Chase, Kill the Archers, Destroy the Market Stands, and Escort.

You can expect immersing and unique gameplay experience dressed to kill now on GOG.com. Bundled into a Premium Edition with more than 250 minutes of soundtracks, an official artbook, wallpapers, avatars, design sketches, and more, its full price is $19.99, but you pick it up for a limited time together with our Heroes of Might and Magic V Bundle on a special introductory buy one, get one free sale!
another overrated game made its way to GOG...
Nice to see GOG expanding their catalog. :)
I got AC 1 in a Steam sale where it was a bunch of Ubisoft games for like $3.50 a piece. This isn't a good deal at all, I'm sorry to say.

Oh and uh, before anybody thinks about it, you can keep your fear mongering little DRM comments to yourself, thanks. :)

hedwards: Plus, this isn't an old game and it isn't an indie game, so why on Earth is it being sold here?
Where did you get the idea that gog was only going to be selllng old games and indie games now? I thought that it's been pretty obvious for a long time now that it isn't going to be like that, I never got the impression that the newer games were just going to be indies

I don't think that it's been obvious at all. Opening it up to not just new indie games, but games in general represents a more or less complete betrayal of their niche. It's good that they're still holding true to the DRM free aspect, but it's pretty much the only thing they've held true to.

It's no longer just retro games, there aren't always bonuses that go with the games, they no longer have only two price points and now that it's relatively new mainstream titles, the store is pretty much not at all what it was when I joined.

I have faith that they won't abandon the world wide pricing and the DRM free, but at this point I'm not really sure how much more they could change their focus.

I'm completely baffled as to how you missed it unless you just weren't paying attention to the questions in the gog survey, discussion in gog's forums and announcements like these below. I've never seen anything that suggested they only meant indie games as the "newer" games.

I see a lot of you are giving this game flak, personally I LOVED it purely for the unique atmosphere it creates.

Quite overpriced though... I bought my physical copy (also director's cut) a year ago for half this price.

You're making a mountain of a molehill... all the old games are still there at the same price and they will continue to expand on that catalogue. How is adding MORE and NEWER games a negative???

Some people just don't understand evolution.

mobutu: Some people just don't understand evolution.
On a site that started out to keep retro games available you talk about evolution? That's funny.
You have to start from somewhere and evolve from there.
It's just that simple and logical.
Thank you Ubi, for seeing the light.

You make awesome games that i can't/won't play because of your horrific online authentication.

I already own assasins creed on PC CDROM, but i have bought it again here to encourage you to release AC2 and RUSE on GoG too.

p.s. can i please play the RUSE singleplayer without having to log in to your online matchmaking system?
No Polish versions ;(
Despite having this and HoMMV on Steam (got both there for $10 total) I bought them here anyway, partly for my DRM-free collection (some people collect stamps) and partly for the extras...especially the AC art book which I was hoping was the limited edition version. It is, but it is a low quality cut up scan, not a high quality pdf "proof" like the Witcher art books (or the AC manual). At $20 for an "old" game I was expecting the extras to be top-notch, and they are except for the art book. I'm very disappointed GOG could not score a PDF "proof" copy from Ubi for this deal. The scanned version just doesn't cut it.

Aks support about it, and they may replace it.
