The Mediterranean in flames.

Aggressors: Ancient Rome is now available DRM-free on GOG.com.
Every ruler of the ancient world wanted to dip their power-hungry toes into the Mare Nostrum. The Greeks, the Romans, the Egyptians, the migrating barbarians - they all had ambitions, strengths, weaknesses, and ways of keeping their citizens in line. Lead one of twenty factions using military strength, economics, or cunning in a 4X turn-based strategy that gives you complete freedom over how you start your campaign and handle the challenges it throws at you.
Nice! Day 1 release.
I'm waiting for literal years for these guys to create Legion (or Spartan) 2, or at least to re-release old Legion Gold, Chariots of War, Spartan and Gates of Troy somewhere like Steam or, better yet, here on GOG.

But alas. I guess this is not bad too.

Sorry, to keep you waiting Chiteky, but none of those games are planned at this point in time.

We hope you will give Aggressors a chance though, since you clearly like your strategy games :)
I absolutely love these type of games. I will pick this up as soon as I can.

Wow, I did not expect a fast reply from an actual dev, and at least with a solid 'no' in stead of silence or ambiguity. Pleasantly surprised. Will know not to anticipate them. Too much)

Yeah, I'll give this a shot, everything with Antiquity, and especially with glorious Rome, has a place in my library X)

Roman 4x game, cool. I would pick it up, alas I'm still busy with Polaris Sector. Also I hope it won't receive a flood of DLCs...
Btw. I wonder why Legion Arena never got here. It was actually a pretty good game imho.

Surtur:
Nice.

Your avatar appears to be the seal of the Eurasian Dynasty circa Earth 2150. Did the Aggressors team also work on that series?
Nice!

Hehehe, sorry about that, no it is just one of my favourite games (especially Lost Souls) and one of the reasons I joined GoG was to buy classics like this.

Yeah, wanted to ask the very same thing. But that was another studio, Reality Pump Studios.

To be fair, I mostly use this GoG account as a private user, I just happened to stumble on a question that I could answer.
I tend to do let's plays on my youtube channel (and occasionally on twitch).
Mostly strategy games so this is definitely up my alley.
But because right now my income is super low, I would like to ask some questions about this game to see if I should spend my last money (for games) on it or not.
Anyone who can answer any questions, thank you in advance.

1. Is it completely turn based, strategy map and battles?

2. Are there 3D battles at all in the game, be it in real time, turn based, or phased?

3. What's the size of the map in terms of real world areas? From the store pictures I see the map being black just north of the southern coast of modern France in the north west, just around modern day Romania in the north east.

4. Are there different size maps in the game? Both in terms of real world territory shown and number of "hexes" (or whatever it is in this game.

5. The map generator (random or editor), do they allow different size of maps?

6. Is there a time limit in the game that stops you from playing after certain in game date?

7. If there are such limits/dates, can they be changed per game, or at the very least when you make your own map?

8. What format does the turn based part (strategy map) have? Are the results/actions calculated after every player (human/AI) or at the end when everyone has issues orders? A mix of the above?

9. How many playable sides are in the historical map? Are all sides playable?

10. I noticed in the mainland Greece there are 3-4 states. Are they Macedonia, Athens, Sparta, Epiros? Or others?

11. I noticed percentage of progression to win the game in a screenshot. Are they only related to a human player or AI can win with the same ones too? Is there an option to continue regardless who reached them?

12. Is there in game music and if yes, will a youtuber have problems with copyright on youtube?

I noticed Slitherine as being part of this, which is always a good thing. I hope this game is at least as good as previous games. I buy their games since the very beginning (not all since I am not rich).

13. If this game doesn't have a battle system similar to Sparta, Troy, etc, I hope Slitherine considers one day to release either an update to this game or a sequel to those games with modern day changes. I always considered the battle system great every since I first saw it (played it) in the old Centurion Defender of Rome (and before that in Feudal Lords)

14. To GOG. Why don't you finally bring Centurion Defender of Rome here? :p

Beautiful! Another insta-buy for me! This looks like an updated game from the Caesar series or something. Also, BIG points from me that it is singleplayer. No multiplayer-focus, no delaying the GOG build, just day 1 epic goodness all for me to enjoy!

1. Yes, all is turnbased
2. No, there is no separate 'tactical layer' to the game.
3. It focuses around the mare nostrum. So goes north as far as the alps, South as far as Egypt, West as far as Spain, East as far as Judea.
4. The historical scenario is as described above, but there is a random map generator where you can define a ton of parameters including size.
5. Yes.
6. No, it is up to you really. You can also play beyond the victory conditions. Though there are no techs etc. beyond the specific age covered in the game.
7. I am not 100 percent sure, but yes you could very easily mod these in if you wished to.
8. It is the standard IGOUGO, so A moves, then B, then C etc. and back to A.
9. 20, all are playable. Factions might reappear as a result of rebellions
10. Antigonid, Macedonia, Sparta, Atherns Epiros are the classical ones that are present. Though there are other 'Greek' states like Pergamon.
11. AI has the same victory conditions as the player. The game warns you when an AI is close.
12. So far no youtubers have reported issues, so that should not be a problem.

Glad to hear. I am a Producer for Slitherine, so technically publisher not developer, just for full transparency.

13. While very cool, it would involve a ton of work to do well. Time which we would rather spend improving the strategy layer.

14. Yes GoG, when?
