As far as that tutorial goes.. I'll have to look at it a little closer later when I have more time. It looks pretty daunting, though. I guess once you get it all modded up for the first time, you can back it up that way so that you don't have to go through all that work again each time you want to play it. At least, I'd hope so.
Hmm.. Yeah, I'll just have to take a closer look at that tutorial page and see if I want to mess with all of that or just buy the new one. 5.99 is a good price, but it looks like it has some DRM. It looks like there are 'magical' ways of getting by that, though, so it's probably not an issue.
Honestly, the tutorial isn't as difficult as that post/thread makes it out to be, it's just a lot of prep work since you need to download a lot of mods before using the Config/mod tool.
These are the three posts/sections you need to look at and follow: Download for the Configurator as well as a mod list to go by The entire list of possible mods, only download the ones in the previous link's list Lastly, this post contains the readme for a little bit of an easier time
Believe me, it looks daunting, but really it's just a lot of downloading individual mods and clumping them together for the Config tool. My folder with all of the mods and the Bootleg tool is a massive 15GB. Totally up to you if the time and effort is worth it, of course. I was just bored one weekend and suffered through it all, it did end up quite pretty once it was all said and done.
