Can you please rephrase that? Didn`t understand it, sorry! But normally alt + tab should work in any DOS box game.

Sure, In video options (gives different screen sizes to choose from) it says: video modes must be set from the command line with width (width) and bpp (bits-per-pixel) select windowed mode with window.

the different window sizes shown dont scroll at all. all other oommands, options controls, work...i already enabled on my pc large screen

Are you running Quake through Galaxy by any chance? I think there should be predefined option under more button. Otherwise start console with tilde ~ key and set desired resolution ie. -width 1024 -height 768 -bpp 32

List of Quake console commands
The other way is a shortcut to executable with parameters. ie:
"C:\GOG games\Quake\quake.exe" -width 1024 -height 768 -bpp 32

I don't think you're going to need DOSBox to play Quake, unless you really want to : )
Just make a shortcut with desired resolution as argument and everything should work fine.
Perhaps this solution will help you more: Quake: The Offering and screen resolutions : )
Sadly I don't have the game here and can't help much..
