nightcraw1er.488: True. Thankfully about 5 years back I revamped my whole backup process, so have three ongonig backups for normal day to day, then timepoint backups, so I can rollback quite some time now if needs be.

trusteft: That's clever, but very space consuming.
I have only one back (version) for each game and I am already passed the 5TB drive and its backup. So if I want more I am going to have to get multiple hardrives just for one backup. I don't have money for that any more.
It's annoying paid customers have to try to "trick" the system to not get screwed by the process GOG is following.
I am pretty certain they do this on purpose just to push the stupid client.
Yes, it is a pricey initial setup. It’s brought raid boxes, terramaster d5 ones (not the 3+2), at a good price. Then get smaller drives which are cheaper and you can add further ones later. So 5x4tb for instance. The raid isn’t a backup, it’s there to help with drive failure, but also provides a nice 1 drive view of multiple ones. You could add another 4b later, maybe get a batch of drives cheap. There are options. The timepoint ones are just drives I had at the time, sometimes split over two.

nightcraw1er.488: Is there really only 137 users who still use offline downloads?
I think there are a lot more. GOG has built his position on these people and should primarily care for them, but now disappoints them.

People who care about offline installers mostly are the same people who don't like and don't use "online life" every day. The chance that they will notice topics like this or wishlist entries is very small.

They won't take a part of social bs but will just stop buying here when they notice that GOG deceived them.

I voted for related entries on the wishlist.
Bumping. Nothing has been said, more and more games are lacking a change log completely, lot of updates not mentioned. No option to download specific versions etc.

Shouldn't they just include a change log txt file in each game?

Whilst That might be useful from a storage point of view, it doesn’t help with the do I want to download this version or not, for example wizardry 8, if you have the previous download the works fine for some people and has premade characters and party to play with, the current download does not work for some people and does not have the premade content.

I only download (/replace with) a new version if a changelog provides with a good reason to do so...
Bump.
Updating this. I now see missing upgrade paths (patches):
---
I see that Serious Sam 4 got updated to 1.08. I downloaded 1.06 before in full, where is the patch from 1.06 to 1.07. Seems to only be 1.04->1.05, 1.05->1.06, 1.07 to 1.08.
Or is downloading the 1.07->1.08 ok on on v1.06? Or is that galaxy only?
---

Some things are being flagged but dont appear to have been changed. Others have changed, but no offline installers.
Btw, with gogrepo I noticed that someone managed to update an installer with the old crap naming scheme:
- my older version: setup_hotline_miami_2.2.0.8.exe
- gog's current vers: setup_hotline_miami_gog-8(a)_(46452).exe

Just a bump as nothing has been even mentioned on this. I included a small addendum in the first post about compression and optional downloads.
