Am I understanding correctly that the only way to get an instruction manual is to pre-order the game?

The only way to get the digital NES-style Instruction Booklet (and soundtrack) for less than $10 is to pre-order of GOG. Once the game has launched we may offer a Special Edition version that includes them as well, but it will cost more.

We are also launching a Wiki for the game that will be available for everyone who needs help with the game.

Nope - I'm playing already...

Wasn't the release date 7th Feb?
It also says that on the store page.
I preordered and got this email today:

Yay, you can start playing the complete version of Treasure Adventure World a week early!

Go, go! No bamboozle – we really couldn't wait for it either.

We're opening up early access to everyone who's pre-ordered. We hope that letting the fans have the game a little early will help generate some buzz and it's a good way to test the game with a larger audience before our official launch on the 7th.
I had fun with it for about an hour, then it crashed. Anyone else having troubles with the game, or is it just me?
I haven't had any problems with the pre-release version so far, I just got past Golemy. Despite the new aesthetic, it still has all the charm of the original. :) Not to say that I don't like the new look, Fetalstar did a great job. :)

Edit: And now I did have one issue. Right after the Museum Island I sailed east and encountered the pirate ship. Once it runs out of cannon balls, it sails west and pushes me off-screen. When I sail east again, the boss fight repeats, but I appeared on the opposite side of the ship, and again after the fight, it pushes me this time east into the island, and my boat gets stuck in the 'negative space' of the island.
