SCPM: Loved Treasure Adventure Game, I'm definitely looking forward to this one.

RawSteelUT: A. Is this a sequel or a remake?

B. Any word on an actual release date? I'm STILL waiting on Ys VIII, and am hesitant to make another pre-order...

SCPM: A. This is a remake of TAG, with additional features and refinements.
B. The release date according to this trailer is February 7th.
Thanks for the confirmation, and yeah, Feb 7 is a good date.
A bit disingenuous to call it a sequel when it's more of an expanded remake (no idea how expanded). I also prefer the original's charming pixel art but I may actually preorder this as I had such a good time with TAG and want to reward the developer.

CharlesGrey: It's basically a 2D interpretation of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. ( It seems heavily inspired by it, in any case. )
A mixture of Wind Waker and Earthbound in style and 2D metroidvania in gameplay. I absolutely devoured it when it first came out (before it showed up on GOG).

Well, my first digital pre-order in a long time. In part I want to reward the developer for the fantastic time I had with the original version.
Wow, brilliant yet superbly authentic! It's like as if Treasure Adventure Game was made by SNK for the Neo Geo. I happily look forwards to having this sit next to the original in my library :D

I'm your brain on red wine, and I approve this message.
I loved the first game, so I'm definitely getting this. And I won't get it on sale because I feel that that first game was already worth what this game costs. (That said I'll have to wait a few months. Money will be a bit tight at least until may.)

DeMignon: As much as I enjoyed Treasure Adventure Game, I'll probably not spend my time on playing the remake. If it was a real sequel I'd give it a clear go.
Well, the gamecard and the game's site mention multiple endings, so maybe there are more endings than in the original? There were two endings in TAG (although they weren't that different) but I don't see it mentioned how many endings "multiple" is supposed to mean here.

Anyone knows if the backtracking will be ~10 min from place to place, like it was in the original?
If so, I just can't do it again.

I hope some fast travel system is implemented.

There was a kind of fast travel system in the original game, if you used the magic bottle on those swirly black things you'd sometimes find in the environment. The trailer for TAW showed the same warp system, but there's no telling yet if there will be more warp points or anything like that.
The original Treasure Adventure Game (TAG) is one of my favourite games. Every part of the game felt fun -- the pixel graphics, the music, the world itself populated by such a varied selection of characters and creatures. The controls and gameplay was intuitive and well executed.

That said, I think I like the new graphical aesthetics of the Treasure Adventure World (TAW, it doesn't sound as good as TAG). As the trailer shows it looks like a more polished rendition of the original. I wish they have done more improvement to the game than a mere aesthetic change-- like some new gameplay mechanics and extention of the storyline.

Waiting eagerly for the release.

As far as I remember they were rare and placed in such a way that it would not cut backtracking time by much.
Correct me if I am wrong... It was a while since I have played it.

You're not wrong, there weren't that many warp points in the game. We'll have to wait and see how the new game handles the warp system, if more points were added, or if anything else changed.
