Liberté! Égalité! Spécialité!

Tooth and Tail, a grimly satirical RTS about organized animal cruelty, is now available for pre-order, DRM-free, on GOG.com with a 10% pre-order discount.

Time to break the (food) chains! The War for Meat has thrown the animal kingdom into upheaval and everyone is out to subdue and consume their opponents. Customize your faction and lead an army of aggressive fuzzballs through procedurally generated maps to burn, gut, or blast the other woodland creatures into gooey pixels. Then you can go online and brutalize your friends' furry pets, unless they're willing to swing by for some couch split-screen play.

The 10% discount will last until the game's expected release on September 13.

Into the Forum...
I was mildly interested up until this part:
"With matches lasting from 5-12 minutes, controls designed specifically for the gamepad, and split-screen couch play, Tooth and Tail is a popcorn RTS for veterans and newcomers alike. "

Sounds like a very simple console RTS-like affair from that, not to mention randomised maps.

So, its onto the no-go for list for me.

Couldn't agree more. RTS with a controller sounds like shit.
Still waiting for it's release.
i'm not terribly into rts games. [i far prefer turn based strategy games if i'm going to play strategy games at all.]

and i'm not totally sure i like the setup of the world here, but i am at least a little curious.

You control that little leader with the banner. Looks like an elegant design for replacing the mouse.
No Linux for GOG...too bad...removed from my wishlist T_T

Have fun on Windows!

Check some gameplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rLiWlgFTxo

The game is way better then it sound. Also normal gameplay time is more like around 30 minutes for mutliplayer. But sure rushers can finish games in 10 minutes but that is true for any rts. The game is basically based on a randomness system that allows several variations of units and building combinations dependening on what you get for skirmish/multiplayer. You pick up to 6 units/buildings and try to beat the enemy with his unique combination. Also you haven't seen the campaign yet since they are keeping behind closed doors. Its supposed to have cca. 10 hours gameplay with actuall storyline.

Complain to gog. Its their fault cause they don't provide the required service to devs that is needed for Linux releases.

Hi friends! I'm the Creative Director of Tooth and Tail. Feel free to ask me any questions if you have them!

This is getting off topic, but I'm genuinely curious. What is missing? There are so many games I'd like to buy but are on the "linux version elsewhere" list :(

Does the game feature crossplay between the gog and the steam version?

Ha, I'm afraid I can't answer that question just yet, but watch for news on the topic soon!

Thanks for the opportunity.

So, re: the bit where it says that controls have been specifically designed for the gamepad.
Meaning that keyboard and mouse are actually the number-two choice here? In an RTS?

That's different, to say the least.

Oh, man, we used our PS4 description here. The game was designed with the constraints of a controller in mind, and designed to be just as fun on either controller or keyboard/mouse. I'll need to adjust the store language. Thanks for catching that! If you're curious about the controls, here's a layout for you:

It's a good thing that it puts a limit on the amount of macro that is possible so that you never end up with Starcraft-level twitch gameplay. I also have a soft spot for games that make you a part of the action the way Sacrifice did (though far more streamlined here).
