I own the old Telltale website versions, backed up on an external drive. Kind of irritating that means no discount, but it is what it is. I'll wait and see what the improvements are on youtube, but I'll probably get it. These are nowhere near as good as the original Lucasarts games, but they're still fun.

my name is vaughlte catte: We kind of already knew that, because the original unremastered versions were being sold on Steam by them for a while now.
avatar
MarkoH01: Oh, I did not know that. Thought they have been removed from Steam and there was no reason for me to check it because I mostly don't use Steam.
avatar
Darvond: I'm hoping this remaster adds some meat to the bones of the writing, among a graphical & engine shine up.
avatar
MarkoH01: Not sure if I understood you here correctly, but if you were hoping they'd change the story - in their faq they stated that they won't do that in respect of those who created the original.
But they're getting input from Steve Purcell himself, so what even are they doing?

And less "change" and more "give depth".

Same here as well (+ the physical editions of all 3 seasons from back then). Do you know if the installers from Telltale are DRM-free or they require some activation? I have never tried them (played the disc versions when they were released).

edit: I just found this post from the Telltale forums which more or less confirms that all game installers have been updated to not require logging (also clearly states that they are DRM-free).

And less "change" and more "give depth".
As you can see on their faq, they took input from Steve Purcell regarding the look of the characters.

They explicitely said that those who bought on TTG site will get a GOG key for the old game and therefore will also be able to get the discount.

Months ago I played the three Sam & Max games by Telltale. I had no problems to run Season 3 on a Windows 10 system, but I had problems with some episodes of Season 1 and 2. Either they didn't started or the screen was black. And there was no widescreen resolution in the game options of all episodes. I used dgVoodoo2 to fix this after a fresh install.

I had to use the dgVoodoo2 files and the config tool for every episode. After that I could choose a widescreen resolution (in my case 1366x768) using the Custom Resolution Tool:

For the case where Sybil is missing you can use the hint described here:

Wow thanks for the tip Marko, didn't notice it until now! +1

Now the challenging part is to remember this when the game gets here :)

I can confirm this. They reworked all TTG versions of Sam and Max to make them DRM-free. Unfortunately the DVD version TTG offered a long time ago is DRM'd AND therefore won't run on some systems anymore (IIRC they used SecuROM).

Breja: He wasn't doing any racial sterotype, he was playing a silly cartoon character.

Bu even if he was a racial sterotype, even if the character was actually offensive... that's the way it was. I would not find it a problem (or at least no nearly as much) if the character was re-cast for an enitrely new game. But altering an existing work to suit modern day ideology is a terrible and quite frankly terrifying idea. Are we going to digitally re-cast Mickey Rooney in a special edition of Breakfest at Tiffany's next? In this context this may sound silly, but ideas like this are downright orwellian.

I think creationists are hopelessly stupid, but I don't demand Professor Monkey-For-A-Head be removed from Earthworm Jim because Doug Tennapel created him as a mockery of people who believe in evolution. It's a character intentionally, specifically designed to insult me. And I. Don't. Care. I may rarely act like it, but I'm a grown man. I don't get upset over a cartoon character. I don't demand someone's work be altered or abolished for my fragile emotional comfort. That's insane, dangerous and flat-out wrong.
avatar
Zjeraar: But don't you understand? There were no racial stereotypes in Earthworm Jim. Then it's allowed. Only when the colour of your skin is involved then you're allowed to complain and have the work you're offended by changed.
This isnt directed Against you
Just a general rant
Last time i checked cartoon rabits and cartoon dogs doesnt have race
and even if you compare them to real life counterpart rabits and dogs the whole debate about this gets stupid since Rabits and Dogs arent humans
even the debate abot the tags confined to race being black or white is stupid.
The only tag that shoud be used is Human

According to wikipedia Sam is an Irish Wolfhound.

Also, congratulations on getting the coveted Take A Joke Seriously and Miss the Point By a Country Mile achievements both in one post.

Interesting, we'll see how that works. Thanks.
Why bother learning how to act? Turns out you just have to be the exact person being portrayed in order to get the part...
What a dumb move.

And you missed the point it was a general rant
I coud have quoted the Post i meant the response for but i didnt bother

And im also speaking about race in human terms or tags people like to use to place humans in various mind
stalls.
Even people of color themself place themself in those stalls sometimes.
The post was a response of an earlier post where one claimed some critique was anti PC drama at least related to this.
Btw. The Irish wolfhound woudnt care if somone placed or divided its species into mind stalls.
Annimals doesnt have that capability.

I just saved you all 10 bucks.

What a rip-off.

So, they used the fans of classic point & click games to startup Telltale, and as soon as they started having some success, shat all over their old customers, to chase after that sweet mainstream.

Now they're doing it all over again. WITH THE SAME PRODUCTS.

Fool me once, darling.
I just wish Steve Purcell would get some new Sam & Max project going - comic, video game, movie, series, whatever. Oh well, I guess he's busy with more mainstream Pixar stuff.

And Max is not necessarily a rabbit. He is a lagomorph though. According to himself.

I'm with you. I'd love a new Sam & Max point & click, not a re-hash. Or a new cartoon series, preferably from Adult Swim. I mean yeah, there is a new game in the works, but it's VR-only, so it might as well not exist at all.
