I don't own Sunless Sea in my GOG library. However, if I buy the Sunless Sea DLC (Zubarmariner) in the current sale is it possible to then claim the free copy of base game (Sunless Sea) in the current deal (for spending over £4 on a sale game).

Try buying the DLC as a gift and then claim the key code yourself.

..there is a snag though, I am unable to use a card to pay for gifts (GOG requires that you use a card which has a 3 month history of purchasing games for yourself).

There's a 3 months rule until you;re able to buy games but from your join date, you shouldn't be seeing that. Never heard that it was connected to a specific card though.

There is a way. Top up your GOG wallet. There should be no limits on your card as it is a self-purchase. Then use the funds to buy your DLC as a gift. This bypasses your card for game purchases.

Oh dear. Then I think you should take up Fairfox's offer (change your privacy settings and msg her). Because I can't quite see a way out of this either. You can contact support, but the sale would have likely have ended by then.
