Lord_Kane: 1. How did you stick with it? from what I heard the implementation of the ADND 3rd Edition rules was quite shoddy.
Really, what I enjoyed was the challenge of optimizing my soloist, playing through, and then discovering more tweaks or better equipment. By the time I was done, I'd found a build that was so much stronger than the final boss, it was absolutely ludicrous: higher AC, higher spell resistance and saving throws, more attacks, more damage per attack, and almost as many HP. (The secret is multiclassing at specific levels, to unlock certain skills and pick up specific feats.)
With that done, I wondered if I could do the same thing with optimizing a duo. I found pretty good builds working with Corran, Faeril, and Eadred; decent ones with Emmeric, Jarial, Bronwyn, and Kellan. (I even tried taking Bronwyn and Kellan together once; big mistake.)
Fun fact and minor spoiler: if you don't accept Emmeric or Jarial into your party until after you've escaped the first dungeon, when they do join you they're at level 8 (same as Eadred) instead of level 5 or 3.
Right now I'm doing a run with two of my own PCs: one using my optimized soloist build, and the other one as their sidekic— uhh, I mean Hero Support. (Sky High reference, anyone?)
nightcraw1er.488: I might stick it on my list of things to look at, been wanting to do something meaty in Godot engine, maybe that. Will see if I ever have free time though.
If you do, you'll be my hero. I'll name my first playthrough after you.
