DCT: Oh yeah that's right but doesn't GOG just use a stand alone version of Boxer instead or is that just the same thing. I have little to know clue on the MAC end of things.
Boxer does have a few things that pure DOSBox doesn't, but it's basically the same, yes.

Miaghstir: Boxer does have a few things that DOSBox doesn't, but it's basically the same, yes.
Oh then they really should have no excuse for this then outside of "hey it was easier to just slap these into ScummVM and call it the day then playing around with Dosbox and Boxer settings" and even then there still was no real good reason to rip out the SVGA files though.

I love this site but damn they do some silly things.

EDIT: eeem... from OP post I understood that it was there and then it was removed, but from other threads about that it seems GOG never included these files.
Yeah what I mean by putting the files back was the version of Larry 6 gog used had both the SVGA and VGA versions included GOG removed the SVGA files from their release because "they couldn't get them to run right" even so that is still a silly reason to remove the files they could of just used the VGA version like they are now but kept the SVGA files in..

They really should add an option to get unsupported files that lets people download things that have been stripped out.

I'd go as far to request ISO and disk images for games that have been released in programs like DosBox or ScummVM. Most people won't use them, but for those that want to do the work themselves should have a chance. Just make sure to put up "Nothing on this download is supported in any way!" and make the person click OK to get it.

Or they can just stop stripping them out in the first place, really what is the point in taking them out? Honestly the average user here are not going to go poking around and play with those files since they just use the shortcuts GOG gives them and call it the day. The average peson I find that goes poking around the directories and uses those files are those who know what there doing or want to try them out and see if they can get it running and those people are not going to be hammering suppourt with complaints about it if they don't work at worst that they will do is maybe post in the game's forums much like some linux users do

This has been brought up many times before and the answer has always been, it's all about the quality of GOG's releases. Even if they were to release the full content, ISOs, etc. with a warning that that stuff is not supported, people are going to look for support for it and it gives the (erroneous) impression that GOG is selling a broken product. For a small company like GOG, that is severely damaging to the brand, more damaging than it would be to simply not offer or remove the non-functional stuff. In this particular case, it does sound like the removal had less to do with protecting the brand and more to do with expediting the release, but for nearly all the others, that is not the case.

I think you are severely underestimating the technical expertise of the "average customer" here. A large majority of the people who are buying the old games on GOG are very technically inclined gamers who are well informed about what is and isn't in some of these games. If they weren't, topics like this would not come up as often as they do. These are definitely the kinds of people who will go tinkering around with the game files and will very likely find stuff that does not work, then post on the forums about the "broken content" in GOG games (not maliciously, mind you, just looking for community help). This, in turn leads the less informed customers to think that GOG is selling a broken product. Safer in the long run to simply not include that stuff.
