Just wanted to let you guys know I TOLD YOU SO. Apparently, without going into detail, Paul Barnett, EA liaison extraordinaire has confirmed that his long, hard fight to get the expansions of the EA and Origin classics is close to fruition. He dropped this bombshell on the Giant Bombcast (lol), so for those interested, you can listen here:

I told you guys he's a man of his word, and could get the job done. Also, I'd like to point out that it was due in large part to crowd-sourcing, and the community that they're coming.

Do you have a timecode? That podcast is 45 minutes long...
I skipped through so mighta missed something. Found mention of GOG around the 30 minute mark. Kept listening but didn't learn much. Other than more EA games might be headed our way.
Right, I would also like to know; are we going to have to rebuy them with the games? Just added as 'bonus' items?

Will they be integrated (as best as can be with some games), or separate executable(s).

Will listen to the podcast in the morning, in case these are all answered there. Just food for thought.
Thats some great news.
Yeah so it is the 30-34 minute range where GOG and the expansions are mentioned. While not totally clear it seems like he was saying that expansions should be on their way to GOG. Apparently it was EA legal that was causing the slowdown - i.e. EA legal not being sure that EA had the right to sell the expansion packs and who owned the code and where the expansions came from. Someone at the Origin side of EA is actually helping them get legal to OK the general idea and apparently some community members sending in stuff helped convince legal to release them. Now according to Paul Barnett it's just up to the GOG guys. However, he didn't (wasn't allowed to actually) specify what was being released when or how - i.e. if they are the expansions or also new titles, probably both - or how/when they will be added to the catalog.

But yes, the interview made it sound like the expansions are indeed coming.

He also mentioned trying to push Ultima Underworld to Almost Human. That would be cool.;)
It would figure the expansions would come after I spent all that time installing and tweaking the settings of those games, but at least they seem to be coming. I'm wondering how they'll do that though? I hope we'll just have re-download the game and that they'll already have the expansions installed and set up because I wouldn't know where to begin installing expansions for DOS games.

That would be the most sensible thing. In fact, I'd expect exactly that. In the past, GOG has completely replaced their installers when they realized some settings needed to be tweaked still after the initial launch of a few games that they released. It just makes sense that they'd do the same if they add something like an expansion.

Anyway, until it's officially confirmed I'll hold back my excitement. It certainly would be nice if it did happen.

Only the most notable one: Alpha Centauri's Alien Crossfire

Uh, isn't that already on the site?

Magic Carpet 2 is not an expansion. =P
True, but it is rather weird that it isn't here anyways. More importantly, I hope to have it here.
