I was able to register my boxed copy of Diablo II on Battle.net and get a digital download and I was able to register my boxed copy of The Witcher on GoG and just download the Mac version.
When they are released, anyone with the game will also get the Mac/Linux versions. With the retail version I assume that would be through the Larian Vault
(I can check on that); Steam and GOG would just be able to add them to your account directly.
It's weird they are not releasing all their other games to spent more money for their projects. I mean were are L.E.D. Wars and the Monkey Tales Games on GOG?
Years ago in the Larian forum Swen Vincke described trying to get L.E.D. Wars recompiled in order to remove the copy protection. The original compiler wasn't available any more (don't recall if they no longer had the install disks or if the compiler just wouldn't run), and their current compiler game gave too many errors to be able to be able to fix all the compiler specific idiosyncrasies in a reasonable amount of time. It was mostly tried out of curiosity, though; if there was enough demand, at least theoretically the resources could be eventually assigned to get it re-released (baring other issues).
I doubt Larian will have any problems. They have more than a quarter in 2 days.
Don't forget about stretch goals, which would make for an even better game.
Weird that Raze Larian didn't post anything here.^^
Ya, I got kind of busy and mostly neglected the general forum.
