F1ach: Totally noob question, if there are no servers or matchmaking, how do you meet other players online?

JMich: "Oy, would you be interested in some co-op Original Sin this evening? Hm, you're busy. How about Saturday?"
yes, but on what server would you meet on saturday to play this alleged game? :)

"Ok, my IP address is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, I've set up port forwarding on my router, game is up and running, feel free to connect"

Raze_Larian: Co-op can be either LAN or online; there are no public servers/matchmaking. For co-op, the person who joins a game basically takes over one of the characters that the host would otherwise be controlling themselves. They can then run around together, or separate and get into combat alone (which would be much harder, of course) while the other player is solving quests or talking to people, or even getting in to a fight of their own.

Well, that makes two noobs, then. :-)

I suppose one has to count on friends / acquaintances, or possibly one might post here or in Larian fora once the game is out in case one's friends are not into gaming, and one wants to give the co-op mode a try.

I for instance only have one person amongst my friends who is into gaming at all, but mainly on consoles.

However, I must try to exert beneficial influence as having seen the game-play demo, I totally want to co-op up with him because he has totally opposite take on character build up, and he enjoys going evil whereas I totally don't.

The idea of re-enacting Beyond Divinity of sorts just seems like a lot of fun to be had, as we'd be dueling on the approach to questing for sure and we do like friendly bickering well enough in real life. Well, only if I will be bullied into evil acts every time I shall have to make an exception to this co-op thing - but righteousness shall surely prevail, lol - at least from time to time.

With the Steam version, if your (Steam) friend Bob is playing the game, and you go into the online multi-player menu, you'll see a listing for 'Bob's lobby' and can select that to join his game (he'll be able to pick which character you use and set a few options). There is a server involved, but just to make the connection.

There is also a non-Steamworks solution for online play in the works (in addition to LAN support), but it hasn't been officially confirmed yet.

20K more to 650K. Still waiting for TotalBiscuit's video. The dude has >1million subscribers including me. Any publicity with him is gonna be great.
My pledge is at $150 for the CE boxed set since last week. Thus far, Original Sin is my most $$ backed game on Kickstarter. Tree bark and roots for lunch for the next month.

TotalBiscuit sure seems to be taking his time with the video - unfortunately, the clock is ticking on this project.

By the way, I couldn't help but notice that Shroud of the Avatar backers were much more generous, on average - with over 22 thousand pledges, they've managed to raise close to $2 million.

Actually, could it be that people are backing it through paypal instead as well? Original sin, I noticed, has a paypal option, if you don't want to use Amazon payments, for example. I'm not entire sure how everything works though. So pardon me, if I'm mistaken about this.

They should have done this massive publicity thing when there are 15 days left or something. Kinda came too late if u ask me.

TotalBiscuit has actually covered Original Sin and Dragon Commander way before, like nearly a year ago:

Still waiting eagerly for his video.
