After some consideration, I'm willing to wait a little while to see whether GOG comes to their senses and reconsiders releasing the game here - I really hope they do. In the meantime, I picked up Infinifactory, so that should take care of my mechanical puzzle needs for the time being. :)

Me too. Not because I'm that dedicated to GOG, but I really would rather avoid Humble if possible. And well, Steam is obviously out of the question.

Have you been lucky to buy Sorcery in a bundle, then?

I bought Opus Magnum on Steam (in ea, when it wasn't available anywhere else) and I don't regret it. The game is hilarious. Steam is also way less of a pain in the ass than it was a decade ago.

It's more a matter of principle at this point. I dislike Steam conceptually rather that because of (recent) bad experience.

but sorcery
GOG claims it doesn't like mobile games, yet keeps releasing them anyway. No rhyme or reason to be found in their shenanigans.

But it doesn't LOOK like a mobile game, right? RIGHT!?

Sigh.

This only proofs, that this can't be the real reason behind the opus incident. It must be something else.

Exactly, a wizard did it.
Yes GOG. This game is getting incredible scores, and there is clearly many people who want to buy it, so why not make it possible for them to buy it here?

ciemnogrodzianin: I'm determined to find the person, who made that decision and I'll bring the man here, letting you decide what kind of tortures should be applied. I'm in Warsaw now. She/he cannot hide forever. Wish me luck ;)
Good hunting! I'm with you, we need to know why GOG rejected this game, of was developer decision to not publish it here because his other games doesn't sold well and he don't wanna bother with the effort to create a different build for GOG and give the proper maintenance (a thing we know happened before with other developers).

It wasn't. Judging by the tweet above, Zach had intended GOG to be the primary DRM-free distributor for the game and had to look for an alternative ASAP at release. Whatever the disagreement was, it wasn't "nah I don't want to maintain a build here". This is why the situation is so doubleplusungood: if GOG can't resolve a disagreement over the amazing masterpiece that is Opus Magnum with Zach, how can we hope they'll do anything about Discworld or NOLF?
I would buy anything Zachtronics puts out.

Do it.

Ok, granted, but people can lie. That's why its imperative that GoG be transparent and sincere in this subject.
