I appreciate you taking the time to post your list! Lots of great ones there. Many I have through GOG, some I hope to get through GOG someday (Day of the Tentacle), and I assume a few may be lost to the mists of time, at least for someone like me who isn't going to spend much time looking for old boxed copies...
What an amazing giveaway! Not in, but +1 for the generosity, and good luck everybody!
We're at about 3 1/2 days left on the Groupees bundle. I'll actually close the morning after Retroism closes, so almost 4 days...
Not in, but thanks for the generous giveaway! :)
How about a bump for a few more entries ;)
What a thoughtful GA to run, and what a fine collection of games; cheers and +1, budejovice.

My favourite pre-2000 game... in danger of sounding like a broken record, is definitely my all time favourite one, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. It's the game that not only made me a big adventure games fan, but also got me into video games, it was my very first video game, and opened a whole new world to me.

I have the non-talkie version, and as a big fan of the Indiana Jones trilogy (nope, that Crystal Skull thing never happened), I started playing it with the voice of H. Ford in my head. I spent weeks on it, as back then the Internet was not what it is today, and trying to figure out a puzzle could take days. I made a gazillion saves, as I wanted to play all the options of the dialogue trees, and caught myself often laughing out loud; the humour in it is very true to the films, which made me love it even more. Can't really convey how much fun I had with it.

I got the GOG version on release day, and playing through it was a bit of a new experience, as it's the talkie version, and the voices distracted me at the beginning - this was not how the Indy of my youth sounded! XD

So, dear budejovice, did you finally play my favourite game?

The most recent giveaway I held can be found here.

I'm in (if I'm not too late).
Amazing giveaway, bude! I really enjoyed what I've played out of the 1 or 2 Sid Meier's games, so I am inclined to say I'm in!

Now on to matters at hand! My favorite pre-2000 video game. Extremely tough question! I have no idea what to answer. If anything I will go with Starcraft purely because I'm a sci-fi enthusiast and Starcraft offered me much inspiration as a child and helped me evolve my imagination. While the gameplay wasn't the best or the most balanced, the game had a certain appeal in terms of strategy and often the mission layout was extremely well done. Combine this with a rich story and lore with lots of different overlapping individual plot sequences, and as much as I am an RPG gamer first and foremost, I have to give this honor to Starcraft, at least for the time being, especially since not much is coming to my mind.
CLOSED.

Announcements sometime today. Thanks everyone!

Congratulations to the winner of this anti-Steam bundle, IronArcturus! Code has been PM'd. Enjoy!

I would like to thank everyone for sharing their favorite old games. Especially those that shared an old game I had never heard about, IAmSinistar. :)

@HSL: Your favorite game of all time is firmly in the #2 position on the adventure game backlog. And #1 is on IAS's One Day Game list. Now I just need to play some adventure games! Indy is one that I will likely be playing for a long time - a game of its pedigree (also see Sam & Max, Grim Fandango, etc.) deserves as much time without walkthroughs as I can muster - it might be a slow-play. :)

Thanks for the code, budejovice!

Since I only wanted Silent Service 1&2, I'll just take that game. Please send the code to other winners in the giveaway! :)
After trading PMs with IronArcturus, I am going to re-draw from the remaining 10 names for the rest of the bundle minus Silent Service. Pending...

Random.org says #9. AKA HypersomniacLive! Congratulations! PM incoming...

Congratulations to the winners and thanks budejovice for the chance.
Nice! Congrats to the two winners. I'm glad HL got in there :) And I'm also glad we don't have to look at that stupid bundle on Groupees anymore.
