takezodunmer2005: I know multiplayer's great and all, but my internet has been shit lately making multiplayer impossible; is this locked behind multiplayer?
If you read the store page carefully then you will find listed below Game Features: Single Player :D
Also this game started as single player. A real multiplayer has been added later, but it seems to be store locked. :(

BTW: Is it possible to build your own ships yet? Like in Starmade, Empyrion, Space Engineers, aso.

Hello has really made strides to fix the damage done by their hype campaign leading to the launch. Good on them!!!

takezodunmer2005: Good, thanks for the confirmation; yeah, I didn't think they would but was not 100%... I did start playing yet did not see anything so far, I'll simply play normally until I get a notification then!
For the new ship, you need to have a Void Egg in your inventory for the mission to start. You can get it from the quicksilver merchant (costs 3200 quicksilver). This is the only way to get a living ship.

Some of the other new stuff will pop up as you explore.

I haven't played the game yet (bought it from GOG at some point) and I am sure this has been said countless times... but damn the developer(s) has really redeemed himself.

This game that used to be the laughing stock of empty hype and the game not living up to its promises, but instead of abandoning the game in tears, the developer has kept faith and kept making it better and better.

Damn admirable if you ask me, and I seem to hear mainly positive comments of the game nowadays.

And all these additions as free add-ons to existing users, not as paid DLCs? Unbelievable.

Exactly this - I even played it on release after being super hyped seeing a small blurb in a magazine much earlier (and super excited when it game to GoG Day One). I found the game more than fine even then.

But the amount of work they've put in, after the fact and for free is just insane. Thank you so much for doing this.

My GPU burned out around the time of release and I never put as much time into the game as I wanted to. Can't wait to finally dive back in someday with just the huge amount of content that I don't even know exists LOL.

MischiefMaker: Lemme know when they implement massive capital ship battles where "I can join in, I can take sides" like they promised at E3 way back.
dataminer here... this ability and faction fighting has been able to be done for sometime now... likewise making food and customization of ships and vehicles. I'm not sure why faction fighting hasn't become a thing... id love to be able to pick a side and really have to carefully navigate space if I'm KOS (kill on sight) to someone <3
I'm not talking about rescuing a capital ship from a handful of pirate fighters. I'm talking about massive captial ship on capital ship "orbital conflicts" like they showed at E3 2015

Not knowing too much about the game.... but reading/hearing how it disappointed at launch, what is the game like now?. Whats it like to play solo ?

I've played on and off since launch but... since Abyss I've played more then not... 1000 hours and im still very happy with it.

It has technically 2 main quests and 3 branching side quests plus unlimited faction quests on all 4 sides doing various things. You sort of make your own way, it doesn't hold your hand... its up to you to explore the universe(s) and see what you can see!

There are 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 planets to explore but it goes deeper then that and i cant say more or ruin a major plot point :)

also given the fact you can mod the game and it really breaths life into it... its worth every penny imo, for what it is... what you can do.... and if you have a VR helmet its the best VR game you'll ever play.

Thanks for the info, so it is my understanding that you can only earn quick silver through special online-only events, I've read as much via the wikis and the like... if so, then the ship IS locked behind online-only missions indirectly, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!

My original question is directed towards the new ship being locked behind multiplayer, not the game itself...

You can get quicksilver without multiplayer, just summon the Anomaly talk to the nexus and pick the red (purple also on weekends) option, that should have quicksilver as reward.

Currently you can get 1420 quicksilver in 2 quests from the Anomaly right now this second, no need to ever multiplyer ;)

Thanks for the correction! Good to know that I can actually earn them without relying on my shitty connection!

It's a good looking neverending grinder.
