nijuu: strange move.gearbox is more a dev than publisher.I can't see them do much except s reboot or make hw 3.have they ever done an RTS????. won't work on a console...

tfishell: Yeah, I dunno. Strange. I wonder if it's something more "sinister" (well, for us GOGgers): Gearbox and Valve co-conspire against GOG to release Homeworld exclusively on Steam. On the other hand, we do have some 3D Realms games here, and Gearbox came from the ashes of 3D Realms - maybe GOG and Gearbox could still build a relationship.

Hey Americans on GOG ...Texas Road Trip!
It's a conspiracy now? With what goal : to bring GOG crashing to the ground due to a lack of Homeworld?

I see this as more incentive to try to get Gearbox in to the GOG fold. And that's a good thing.

tfishell: Oooooooofffffffff... shot in the nuts.

Hopefully Night Dive can bring NOLF eventually, however.

Well... you know.... expect a reboot in 1 1/2 year. Hom3World - the FPS.

Hm, would you be controlling a person or a ship?

They are sub-contracting Notch. 0x10c will be re-branded to Hom3World. You are a person and a ship

To gobble up good old games for exclusivity on Steam. But yes, hopefully GOG will be able to bring Gearbox here, although there isn't a particularity big variety they would bring. Half-Life, Halo, THPS3, James Bond (I believe) are no-gos, so essentially it seems we'd get Brothers In Arms, Borderlands, DNF, and A:CM. Borderlands would probably get good to get here eventually, but right now I hope GOG focuses on Homeworld.
Our best bet is to make our voices heard on their forums:

Every voice helps.
I wonder what became of the Red Faction and Darksiders IPs.

Actually, the best bet is to let both Gearbox AND GOG know that you want them here.

Absolutely! :)

It looks like Nordic Games got Darksiders, Red Faction, Summoner, and most of the other titles. That really gives me hope we can get these games here on GOG one day. Imagine, Red Faction: Guerrilla without GFWL!

Oh, that's sad. I was hoping Crytek would get Darksiders. :(

Why is that sad? All Crytek has shown me thus far is that they can make pretty looking games and nothing more.
Wow, Nordic got a good deal I guess. Maybe GOG will see Red Faction, Darksiders, Summoner and Supreme Commander releases.

Much of Vigil, the developers of Darksiders, formed the new Crytek USA studio. There were noises recently that Crytek was in interested in picking up the IP after all. That seems to be out of the cards now. :(

From the very article you just linked: "Crytek has no interest in pursuing the Darksiders property rights, so the studio is starting from scratch."
I wish Platinum Games got the license - they've only made terrific games, are the masters of Action-Adventure/Hack'n'Slashs and pretty much my favorite Japanese studio - Darksiders would have been a pretty good fit for them.

I'm sadly not as optimistic as you are regarding Nordic Games. While they do seem to have some love for GOG, like today's promo showed us, they don't seem to care that much for it. Just keep in mind that they released the new Spellforce 2 "DLC" exclusively on Steam, and there's no sign of them releasing it here. Arcania also hasn't showed up here.

Now while I admit that those games suck the point still stands: They only give release a small part of their library on GOG.com, and I doubt we're going to see Darksiders or Red Faction here.

of course, what should also be considered, is that the company that acquired the rights is the Swedish parent company, not the Austrian label that is an off-shot of JoWood and seems to be responsible for handling most of their old stuff. Not sure if and how this as any relevance, but still.

Correct. That's why I was happy to learn that...
