tinyE: The really good teams don't fight. Only four teams in history have lead the league in penalty minutes AND won the Stanly Cup. The 77 Flyers were one of those teams but they didn't so much fight as they came out, disembowled the opposing team, and forced them to forfeit.
Qwertyman: Just because a team doesn't lead the league in penalty minutes doesn't mean that no players on that team weren't involved in any fights that season. Every team has players that fight occasionally, and I enjoy it. I'm not talking about games that turn into all out brawls or anything like that, but I enjoy the fact that in hockey, sometimes things get a little heated and they're allowed to settle it through a contained fight without being heavily penalized for it (with exceptions of course).
I totally agree. I couldn't agree more. I love the occasional scrum, especially between rivals, but every once in a while you will see a game that gets soooooo bogged down and slow with fighting majors and it's those I could do without.

Yeah I agree. All that stoppage of play is exactly why I don't like American football.
tinyE: The lockout is over!!!!!! The lockout is over!!!!!!! The lockout is over!!!!!! Americans , Canadians, Swedes, Fins, Germans, French, Slovakians, Russians unite!! God bless us all!!!! The lockout is over!!!!!!
Is that supposed to be good news? Now all the best players from national leagues go back to NHL.
That said, I don't really watch ice hockey (unless Finland is in semifinals or finals in world championships), but it is hundreds times more interesting than sissy soccer. At least hockey players don't pretend to be injured like little girls. Oh those big cry babies...

I live in a predominatly Finish area of the U.S. and up here Selane is god.
On the topic, I don't know how to feel about end of lockout. On one hand it's good they will satrt again, on the other hand we will lose a lot of players in our domestic league. And my team was struggling even with support of 3 good NHL players, I dread to imagine how will they fare now.

Cambrey: Are you implying that we have a hockey team ?
Those are the countrys that come to mind when I think of the majority of the makeup of international players in the NHL. Add to that all of the French Americans and French Canadians that help make up the best throughout history and I definitly think France deserves mention.
Cambrey: Are you implying that we have a hockey team ?
Whooping number of 3 French players already even played in NHL. ;-) Andf last year it was probably France best ice hockey world championship ever. They conceded 7 goals in 1 match 3 times, but still they almost managed to advance from preliminary group. :-)

That wasn't the French international team. That was the Toronto Maple Leafs...every year for the past 40! :)
