Steam is usually used for early access on projects like this. I got my LSL Alpha in the form of a Steam key. Which is apparently how I ended up with LSL on my Steam account.

Steam just makes for a convenient way of making sure that people are patched up to the latest beta when they're still working on it. I'd be very surprised if they did anything else with the beta version.

nijuu: Included in $55 Tier and up (i backed the $100 Tier so will get access. Early beta is only on Steam unfortunately - there is no alpha access at all i can see)

reaver894: meh guess ill have to wait for full release, i didnt have the cash at the time so only backed what i could afford to and when i did have the cash the kickstarter had ended and the ranger site where you could back there only had the 25$ one.

shit happens i guess. Just dont be an ass and come posting spoilers and shit :-P
Beta access is still available. If you email somebody at inXile, they might let you upgrade to the higher tier. I know that the KS money isn't sufficient to completely cover the development costs. So, I'd imagine they'd let a KS backer upgrade to a higher tier.

Anyways, it never hurts to ask. Unless of course, you really want to just give them the whole $55 and buy a new copy.

Well poop. I did the $50 pledge. Guess I should have read the brackets better! lol
There's a new screenshot for those who have missed it:

This might be the nicest one yet. Nice to see more color in the environment.

That looks so great... I remember them telling they had to push the release date a bit further, but does someone know if there's still a chance for this to come out before we hit 2014?

For colours, I actually like this one the best:

I'm a sucker for neon lights and night atmospheres. Also that ranger is carrying a bazooka. Also there's a Slicer Dicer impaling a unlucky bastard. This screenshot and the one with lots of greenery surrouding an industrial complex, nice to see it isn't just dull browns and oranges.

Woah, I somehow missed that Hotel one, that one's also really nice. I'd like to see them show some more of the "wasteland being reclaimed by nature vibe" like in that second shot, as it seemed like they were pushing that aesthetic pretty hard early on.

BETA will hit in October for those who actually backed the amount, myself included :) . My guess is that the final release will be around 2 months from there or less, or more. I wonder if it's a good strategy to release it during the December period or would it be better in November. Releasing it during the holiday season might be a good thing, but it might get overshadowed tremendously when the Steam sales come around. Not that I care about the Steam thingy, since I'm GOG version day 1, but well I guess Steam is where the majority of the $$ comes in. Shadowrun Returns is doing pretty well now in sales and there's no June holiday sales to overshadow its position from top sales.

Great. Can't wait for this, it looks so awesome. I don't know much about Wasteland 1 but this reminds me so much of Fallout, which I love. And I, too, will definitely prefer the GOG version.

I trust Brian Fargo to have a decent sales strategy. Though I don't think it's matter much in the long run. Wasteland 2 is a game which will likely have front page presence and a Steam app announcement. If it arrives during the sale, then it will pre-sale before the sale. If it arrives after the sale, it won't be affected by it. Either way I'm not worried. It will probably be best to release it sooner rather than later, but I'd go for a fully debugged game over a quick release, and I'm sure most people will.
nvm

A German magazine has done a special on Wasteland 2, includes new screenshots and lists all the factions and skills in the game. No spoilers of course (well I assume not, I don't speak German), here's a scan if anyone is interested:, courtesy of the Codex:
Edit: Oh Wait, I better remove this, it counts as piracy I guess...

I think you know the game is going to be unconventional when you've got skills like "Bullshit Detector", "Hard Ass" and "Toaster Repair".

So Mannerites are the equivalent of Fallout NV's White Glove Society? Hahaha

I'm interested to see what toaster repair does, I would totally throw bread at the enemy. Backers get the exclusive Folklore skill. I really like this screenshot:
