The time has come to relieve the beginnings of one of the best space flight simulators saga ever created.

Wing Commander 1+2 is a pack containing the first two parts of the acclaimed space flight and combat simulator series by Origin. With this bundle you’ll get an introduction to the epic military conflict between The Confederation and the Kilrathi. Although the war between humans and Kilrathi has lasted for 20 years already, you're just making your presence. As a young pilot, straight from the academy, you’ll either become humanity’s biggest hero or the biggest zero as you're posted on Confederation's flagship - Tiger's Claw. With a cinematic approach to the storytelling and great 3D gameplay, the Wing Commander series is a must-have for every self-respecting gamer.
they could at least tell us if something is wrong and will be fixed about the expansions, or if the product page is just plain wrong :(

Yeah, looks like they fudged something up.

Would appear that it was a fudge-up. The product page has been changed.

Oh well, as I say: wishlisted for now until this is sorted. It's pretty useless in its current state.

I remember having the full speech CD version of WC1 for the SegaCD, shame it was never made for any other format although i could swear i had it on the CD32 at one time as well.

The wiki says it was ported for Mac.

Also, there is speech in the second WC during space battles. So is the speech pack included?

I just played three missions in the Vega sector. No sound at all : no music, no lasers... I quit the game and when i came back, a bug appeared when i tried to load one of my saves.
Very disappointing, knowing also that the expansions are not included.
Can anyone confirm if these run through DOS Box? I know at least WC1 had a Windows friendly version that I got from a PC Gamer disk - runs at 720x400.

That was Super Wing Commander, the 3DO-version. SWC hat brand new graphics and a few other missions and so on. The SegaCD-Version had full speech but was based on the original Wing Commander. The latter wasn't ported to Mac.

Been beaten to it,

It's the excellent 3DO version of Super Wing Commander (which was a remake with full speech) which was ported onto the Mac.

I think the speech pack is included with WC2.

That's very odd, because Wing Commander had music (Adlib-compatible) directed to port 220 or 240, and sound effects (Sound Blaster) on IRQ 7. IIRC, this became an issue later as more computers started shipping with Parallel ports which also used that IRQ setting. Creative later changed the default setting to 5, but older games will tell you the default is 7.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is you should at least have Adlib music - anyone else had this problem in the WC forums?

IIRC WC2 had eight floppies, and the speech pack was an extra three floppies.

Now that I think about it, weren't there two secret missions for Wing Commander? I vaguely recall piloting a Dralthi as one of the selling points on the back of the box.
