We hope you've been busy playing Might and Magic 7, because its sequel is now officially part of our rapidly expanding collection of games!

Might and Magic 8: Day of the Destroyer is a first-person perspective role-playing game and is the last game of the series with such strong ties to its predecessors. Most notably, its engine is based on that of the classic Might and Magic 6, with most of the familiar mechanics remaining, for the most part, unchanged.
The story, closely tied to the previous Might and Magic games and also Heroes of Might and Magic 3, is enthralling and full of exploration, great dialog and puzzles and, of course, is accompanied by a wonderful soundtrack.
Acromage, the card mini-game you should remember from the prequel, is present in the eight installment as well, with a few alterations, and is still as addictive as ever.
The biggest difference between this game and its predecessors is that you don't have to create an entire party right at the start. You're free to recruit new members for your party and change its composition at will. You can even have a dragon as one of your companions.
So if you haven't finished Might and Magic 7 yet, do it quickly (without sacrificing the experience, of course!) and witness the next chapter of the story.
Ah, no Heroes Chronicles today... :(
C'mon GoG! Be nice...
This is a very fun game. How many rpgs let you take a dragon into your party? Play balance? - Don't ask.
I was getting confused by all the nice things being said about this, then I realised I'd mis-read - this isn't the last game in the series, it's the one before the last game in the series. Cos the last game in the series was pants.
Is this release just the vanilla version of the game? If so, please be aware that ONLY the unofficial patch addresses issues with the Jump spell for the Wasp Nest.
If GOG release Dark Messiah of Might & Magic I will have an orgasm.

So, GOG? What is next? M&M 9? HOMM V? Some surprise?

Merchito: Was it a :) "hmm", or a :( "hmm"? :P
both

Damuna: Wikipedia tells me that Final Fantasy came a year after Might and Magic.

Runehamster: Then vice versa. I was referring to the numerically differentiated entries sharing a similar title, set in a fantasy world. Also, they're RPG's.
Science fiction last I checked, not fantasy. Also, unlike Final Fantasy the games do have actual continuity.

MacReiter: I know this is kind of OCD of me, but could we please fix it to Arcomage instead of Acromage? I had initially hoped this was just a typo, but it's consistently wrong on both the MM7 and MM8 page...
Thanks for the reminder for me to put in the vote for Arcomage on Gog's wanted list.

That sidegame was fun, and I found both the "real" 3DO standalone version at some point, as well as a fan-made standalone version of it.

well, it does sell for $9.99 on Steam, as does Heroes V, and each of the Heroes V expansions.
Great releases at the moment, now release something rubbish so I don't automatically buy it. :)

First of all, it is 9,99 euro here, second I don´t buy from Steam. Thanks anyway.

Ah, it was gifted with a spanish magazine (Micromania) last month. So I have it already.

xa_chan: I've never played Might and Magic VIII. In fact, that's the only one missing in my collection (yes, I have Might and Magic IX). So I HAVE to buy it, for the sake of completion.
Same here, for some reasons I have never played it.

My point was that that they could sell it here since it is already cheap enough, not that you should purchase it on Steam.

To be fair, most of the Final Fantasy games have at least some element of sci-fi as well, if they're not just sci-fi entirely.

But yeah, the Might and Magic series has actual continuity, and of the three big classic PC RPG series it's probably the LEAST related to Final Fantasy. Ultima and Wizardry influenced Dragon Quest (and thus Final Fantasy) a hell of a lot more than Might and Magic ever did.
