From Quantic Dream, the creators of Nomad Soul and Heavy Rain, today we give you Fahrenheit. As we hinted on Facebook and Twitter, yesterday, this game is also known as Indigo Prophecy (For men, it’s like purple but darker), this is an interactive adventure that’ll rock your world for only $5.99!

Just like the two other titles of Quantic Dream, Fahrenheit is more than just a game, it’s more of a statement to a new, revolutionary style of game play. You are controlling four different characters, the murderer Lucas Kane, the female detective Carla Valenti, the NYPD sergeant Tyler Miles, and Father Markus Kane--Lucas’ brother. Apart from that you’ll meet a variety of lifelike characters that you can interact with. The game is controlled by keyboard and mouse, while the latter has some interesting applications to immerse you even more into the game experience.

While Fahrenheit is an interactive movie/adventure game, it has action sequences with quick time events in which the ultimate success depends if you can get the job done in time. Just to cheer you up guys, you don’t have to be as fast as an 13 year old in button mashing, and you can replay the QTEs until you nail ‘em.

Another original feature, this time in the presentation department, is the innovative use of split-screen. No, there is no split-screen co-op in Fahrenheit, it’s more like a new way of building suspense and showing the game world as a living whole not just one camera hanging above your shoulder ;) Sometimes in the game, the screen will split into two divisions, one will show your character, and the other one will be focusing on things like, cops rushing after you while you are doing everything you can just to escape them.

Rarely an adventure game has so much replay value without a ton of added DLC, Fahrenheit is just so big and entangling in the sheer scope of possible paths to take and multiple endings to witness.

In this release we include a game save with the finished game, because if you have a finished game save you are given a lot of additional content in the game (soundtracks, minigames, cinematics), but we’re afraid that the PC version of Fahrenheit has no support for game pads, so you’ll have to stick your mouse and keyboard to experience this great adventure.

Pick Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy up now on GOG.com for only $5.99!

Thanks!

Me Idiot searched for "gamepads" not "game pads"... Boy, I sure feel stupid now ..

Come on guys! This is definitely 5 of 5 stars game. Why are you giving THIS four stars when games like Rayman or Total Annihilation get five. I'm losing my faith in humanity :-(
Ah, well, I'm getting this game anyway to support Quantic Dream on PC!

csmith: Am I the only one that would actually prefer the cut / censored version? I'm 27 but still don't really care for games that go into the AO category. However, I'm glad they put up this version for people to have a choice and get the "full" game.
avatar
bazilisek: You're not, as the sex scenes were actually very much tacked-on and completely pointless and removing them can only improve the game. On the other hand, that definitely should have been a question of auto-censorship rather than just plain old censorship, so I can see why the uncut version is preferable.
it was completely optional. i didn't even see it. but a person going in her/his underwear into a shower is just too stupid to bare. I immediately stopped playing that version.

lugum: good, but again not a real OLD good game.

i can understand to push through newer games. but 4/5 in a row?
Yeah, once again I'd appreciate the focus on OLD, but this one can slide on in because 1) apparently it's genuinely good [whereas various new-ish ones on here seem like they're here because GOG had to add them to add classics from the same company, as in trying to get a few more sales out of the new-ish crap - how is Sensible Soccer on here?!] and 2) 2005-ish is where I would personally draw the line (to get Serious Sam 2 on here ;), although that was closer to 2003 originally; 2006+ really feels new.

Now, when it comes to old crap, I'd still let that slide in because it's still old and /somebody/ considers it good.

Anyway, hopefully we get some GOOD OLD games over the next few weeks, and EPIC EA before Christmas, because then GOG will be able to just shut up and take all our monies.
I've been wanting Farenheit for the longest time, ty GOG

skordakias: I was considering buying this at full price, but after reading a lot of negative reviews about the game's ending I think I will just wait for its promo.
nah. get it now. It is a great great game. Just yeah. The ending is not as great as 75% of the game and 15% is just very good with only 10% being a bit sucky*

*I actually, really, scouts honor, did the math. :D

I think your both forgetting GOG is still a Business they NEED to bring as many games to the site as possible.

thats nonsense because then they should stop from hanging on to releasing 2 games max a week. releasing old or somewhat newer games that wont bring more games. because there are still plenty of real old games they could bring here too.

look at the responses on arma, speedbusters compared to lets say little big adventure.
the latter was much and much more welcomed.

really not complaining here, if there isnt a game i like for 2 weeks so be it, i wait.
but a little more diversity in age and genre (lots of adventure games too in a short time, even though i like adventure games) wouldnt be so bad.

also you can still have a business selling (real) old games from <2000. if i want this game i could still get it on ebay. which with games <2000 its alot harder or alot more expensive.

Great game!
Whoa... this release was unexpected. Sweet!

Wait... AO rating? WHAAAAT? Even more unexpected! I didn't know that!

Now I have to buy this, good AO games are so rare! The only other AO game I have is Manhunt 2 and it was well worth it.

they need to test games, make sure they work as not to damage their reputation with borken gamez.

they also need to spread the releases of their big hitters like LBA by releasing less wanted games. So GOG can get regular balanced income.
It also allows us consumers to have money to spend on games, increasing chance of impulse buying or simple well i just buy it cause i never heard about this game but seems interesting.

also they need to release games every week to ensure customers always come and check the site. if they released more games than 2 they might risking of not having a release in the future. that would be unwelcome either.

Now it's been a few years, but I think that out of the three sex scenes in the game total, at least one (the really squicky one) definitely was not optional, and I'm inclined to believe one of the others cannot be avoided, either (the interactive one).

Didn't know about that shower bit. You are right, that is beyond silly.
I remember being horribly disappointed with this one. I had followed the game's development closely and read an interview with David Cage where he stated that he did not just want to make an interactive movie. So imagine my surprise when I got the game and the starting screen actually promted you with the 'New Movie' option rather than 'New Game'.

Not exactly a great story-line, either. It all went to bollocks supernatural sag og shit land fairly quickly - after an admittedly promising beginning. And all the QTE stuff did not exactly combine to form what I'd call pleasurable gameplay. It quickly gave me a new appreciation of the classic style of adventure game.

The best thing about Fahrenheit, for me, is that I haven't allowed myself to jump on hype trains since, and also not to buy games on release day (i.e. before the actual critical opinions, rather than the day one reviews, start to emerge).

Rayman rocks the socks. This is more like an interactive movie with boobs and a crappy ending. It starts out really interesting but at the end of the day it's still "Simon says" with fancy graphics and boobs. I wouldn't even give it a 4 star rating.

SimonG: Where? I didn't find that info.

As I already mentioned here: I played the original DVD version with a gamepad and didn't have any problems. Every button and both sticks were detected correctly. Maybe gamepads are not supported officially, but that doesn't mean it's impossible to use one. Just give it a try.
