I remember getting it when it was new and it was horrible with my graphics card back when most people didn't buy graphics cards specficially to play games... now it looks pretty damn good even despite age though much newer than most games here
As a conclusion - it's WORTH IT to release a game that will not run on full details at launch. Even though a lot of people will be angry about having to tone things down just to get a bearable framerate, in the long run - the game ages a lot slower and thus remains profitable for an extended period of time.
The only worthy alternatives are to either release a game that looks well even on less modern hardware (in other words - go 2D) or make it look good now, while allowing it to scale nicely and look even better in the future (this is what Blizzard claims they are doing with their games...)
And speaking of Blizzard - am I the only one who finds people going 'OMG - it's so detailed, how will I ever afford the hardware for it !' over games like Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3 hilarious ? I mean - those people fail to realize that, by the time we will finally be able to get our hands on these, even their grandma will be able to run them ;).
