The long-awaited final Atari-Hasbro release is here! Most of you have probably figured this out by now, but that release is only the best RPG of all time - Baldur's Gate 2!

The Complete edition contains the original Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and its expansion pack: Throne of Baal. It's hard to compare this game to any other, since it's usually other games that are compared to Baldur's Gate 2. You've got complex character creation and development, plus mechanics based upon the 2nd Edition Dungeons and Dragons ruleset. The in-game world is just huge and lets you visit countless locations in Faerûn, including the mysterious Underdark. The story is just enthralling and spans upwards of 200 hours of gameplay. Finally, one of the most interesting features is that your party just feels alive. Its members aren't there just for the damage, tanking or healing, but are in fact complex characters with their own motives, likes, dislikes and sometimes even love interests... You will often laugh at their quips and jeers, or find yourself defusing a potential conflict. Overall, an RPG masterpiece of legendary proportions.

nijuu: I wont be buying this til the weekend:).
Can someone correct me if im wrong, but this is the first time BG2 has been made available for download online anywhere?....May i commend the time and effort the GOG crew has put into making this release happen for us :). Good going!!.
This is the first time officially, but it's also true for all the other Infinity Engine games.

cw8: Do you need to own the game for your review to be added? Coz I submitted my review before I bought it, now buying it. :P
Actually, I cannot see your review.

I already have this game, and I've beaten it a while ago. This is an excellent and epic game, and one of Black Isle's best.

Black Isle was just the publisher.

Bioware made the game, BIS contributed

GameRager: They were a pretty good publisher though. :P

:D
They were also developers.

They developed Planescape Torment and the Icewind Dale series (except the engine which is developed by Bioware). And they only published the Baldur's Gate series since it was developed by Bioware.
*like* Very VERY much. Aws as GOG! Bring on the big titles!
Great, this is simply great and worth 10 bucks. However, how is it with language support. Only english again? And a detailed description of how to play BG1 in BG2 would also be great, benefiting from the better resolution. Although you can find these things also somewhere on the net.
One of the best RPGs i played in my life and a must have for any serious CRPG fan.

cw8: Thanks GoG for finally ending my torment of waiting to have the DRM-free digital backup of this epic.

Just wrote a lengthy review.
GoGwait: Torment. :p
Maybe now I can try this game everyones so crazy about

Actually publisher was Interplay, Black Isle was Interplay's internal development studio. Interplay outsourced the development of BG series to Bioware (much like the work Obsidian is doing (Formed by ex BI members btw :-p)). Black Isle provided assistance and Interplay handled Sound, Music, Voice Acting, QA, Marketing and Distribution. Bioware provided the engine and handled rest of the development (design, production, scripting, programming, internal QA, art, animation and cinematics. They also made the manual.).

Aaaaaahhhh, at last! So now, I hope that all the people that were complaining will remain silent during the long weeks needed to fully play BG2. ^_^

Okay, GOG, now that you did your trick with D&D, back to release some unexpected games, please ! ^_^

Yes... Homeworld series, come to papa!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Thank you so very much GOG, for making this Monday so much better than it was starting off with! <3 I'm so damn happy this day has finally come! I know you sadists must have gotten tired of watching all of us squirm ( ;) ) and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for finally releasing this masterpiece. It certainly brightened my day to load the page and see Melissan on the news page, followed by Irenicus on the banner.

I'm going to be giddy for the rest of the day now. :D
