as you can see, system shock has reached over 10 thousand votes here in the wishlist on GoG, this raises the question more and more: When will these games be released here?

It's clear enough that people WANT to pay and play them and that there is a demand for it

I just really hope the people will come to some sort of agreement so that we can play the games

I often morbidly wish EA to go into near-bankruptcy, just so that they'll snag GOG's offer without thinking twice.

I remember playing the demo, and then getting SS2 for Christmas. Truly a great game.

Unfortunately I lost the box and CD, so I'd definitely buy it on GOG. If they can get the rights to sell Torment, SS2 should be a piece of cake.

More than 10000 reasons that the wishlist is kind of a tease

I would like to see System Shock 1 getting the number one in the wishlist instead of System Shock 2. It was the better game.

Both a tease and meaningless. If we've learned anything in the time GOG has been around, its that the amount of interest in a particular game as represented by the wishlist has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not we will ever see it here.

But the DnD games that were on the top of the list did make it here. : )

And how many games that were not in the top ten did we get before that? Dozens. How many are still in the top ten that we still don't have? Most of them. Sure, its a nice treat that GOG has come through on some of those games, but lets not kid ourselves, that really had nothing at all to do with the number of votes the game received on the wishlist, but had everything to do with the wrangling done by the GOG sales team.

What, again? :P

GOG works in mysterious ways and all that...

I'm sure EA is well aware that there are people frothing at the mouth for a System Shock/System Shock 2 release, I suspect that they just don't care. Or rather, it just doesn't fit into their master plans at the moment.

Yet still, when negotiating with people holding the rights to a game I bet it makes gogteam's life a bit easier when they show them the numbers. So while voting doesn't get you what you want, it might not be totally pointless.

Which reminds me there are local elections over here this week...

Except the wishlist is completely unscientific and cannot be considered a valid measure of interest by any stretch of the imagination. Any potential rights holder that looks at the list and sees entries like "All the fucktards that vote for this entry" would immediately disregard any other information that might come from it as complete bullshit. That being said, if the GOG guys spent a little time cleaning up the list and implementing some kind of control over it, whether through community intervention or a dedicated employee intervention, it might become a much more useful tool, but as it is now, it is a waste of time, other than as a means of stopping people from creating the ever popular "want game nao!" threads.
