As our Winter Sale goes full speed, new games are joining in.

As of today, Activision’s titles are also available with discounts. The same goes for some best-selling games from other studios. Let’s see a few new entries into our Winter Sale:

Disco Elysium (-20%) is a thought-provoking RPG which totally changed the genre. A great choice if you want to enter the new year in a pensive mood.

Cuphead (-30%) is an action-adventure platformer inspired by 1930s animated movies. With it, the entry into 2020 will be filled with joy and bursts of laughter.

Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™ (-50%) is an epic RPG for horror fans set in the modern-day Los Angeles, where immortals fight for power.

Of course, that's not all. See other games included in GOG.COM’s Winter Sale which will end on 2nd January 2020, at 2 PM UTC.

Sildring: The discount on the Soldier of Fortune series is pretty low, I guess I will have to wait another year for a better deal :p
avatar
GameRager: Unless you go the steam route, I honestly don't think they'll ever get much cheaper even if one waits a decade or more....also as Starkun says in post 6: They are decent for the price being paid(hours of play/etc).

Dogmaus: Activision can keep their old overpriced games with fake discounts, thank you very much.
avatar
GameRager: Why does it matter if they are old(I thought many of us come here FOR older games)?

Also how are they overpriced? Many of the titles listed have discounts of 1/3 to 1/2 off the listed price(at least in the US), and are often decent for what one is getting.

And what do you mean by "fake discounts"? Do you mean inflating the asking price then cutting it down to make it look like a sale?
Bloodlines used to discount to like 75% off until Bloodlines 2 was announced.

Some Activision games haven't got a decent discount for years now :(
avatar
Starkrun: These are solid games at a good price.. cheaper then a value meal at McD's and instead of scarfing it down in :10 minutes you get hours of enjoyment from them.
Not only that, they are also much more healthier than a Double QP Plus Meal with a large chocolate milk shake, especially if you play the games while running on a treadmill!

Really? I must've missed those times, then. :\

But still, I still don't see how lesser discounts are "fake".......usually such words are reserved for stores or companies that raise a price a bit(or more) THEN drop it to fake a sale.

Yes, only way to capture bundles, newsletter promos and other weird stuff which do not get captured by aggregate sites. Although I do use those to see what has changed so I can track down the actual promos links if other users here haven't tracked them down already.

Paraharaha: So, Gog sent an mail, telling that they started a "winter game".

You can unlock hidden offers by clicking on a picture - afterwards you can redeem a key for a game.

I clicked once ... and in my case it happens to be "Book of Demons" (for 7,49€ instead of 21,99€).

Exactly (!!!) the game I was hoping for, that it will be part of the sale - but so far there was no offer for it.

That was a really cool surprise!

Thank you very much Gog - Money incoming .... :-)
I have added "my" codes to the Ninja-Giveaway in case somebody is interested and they are not taken yet.
Edit: and I just saw that many did the same so it might be worth to check this thread out.

Hi, thank you for bringing this to my attention; added the codes to the thread "Ninja-Giveaway 2.0" as well. :-)
Cheers.

tfishell: I wonder why Activision seemingly won't give deeper discounts on some of these.
This picture should answer your questions.

Presumably because it's debatable that the non-discounted price-tags are even reasonable. Some of that stuff is old as hell, some of it is great but buggy as hell without community fixes.... and like Bloodlines they want $20 for it normally. And it's 15 years old.

Yes, but the word is a loaded word as was being used.....using the word "fake" paints it as the stores/ip holders artificially inflating the prices then cutting them down for sales, but there is no proof of that here.

Also value varies from person to person depending on various factors...what is a steal to one person is too high for others...and even so many of these games are a steal even at full price(compared to their prices when they came out).

People want to talk bad pricing? They should complain about some companies selling old game "remasters" for 30-40 dollars a pop when the old versions sell for around 10 or less and all that was changed was some fixes the community itself mostly already did for free(or could have done), and not not getting an extra buck or two off of an already decently priced game.

As for bloodlines....you get a decent game(quality/length) for 20 bucks, especially considering it likely came out for around 50+ dollars when it first came out & sometimes goes on sale for half that.

tl;dr many are just very frugal(or cheap even), so some like to call companies greedy for not giving them games for what they consider a fair price. People should be happy they can buy said games at all, and save up for them if they really want them(or go the argh matey route if they're actually poor).

Things don't exist in a bubble though. Compared to other publishers Activision skimps on support, pricecuts the slowest, discounts the rarest, and seldom does deep discounts. When you start comparing to other publishers and all the various digital distro stores Activision always comes out as extremely hard to get a good sale price out of.
Activision,bring Sekiro to GOG.

The prices are still decent for what is on offer in many cases...they aren't beamdog charging 30-40 dollars for old games(at least from the games i've seen on offer by activision), and the prices are decent enough.

Honestly, I can understand people balking at such or trying to save a buck(especially if poor), but calling them fake discounts is just nonsense, imo.

Addition: By activision I mean the games by them for sale HERE, not elsewhere.
