From IGN. I really liked the second one (and the first one... I've watched it so many times it's actually genuinely somewhat embarrassing). I wish the third one came out on DVD in the US, I really want to see it. Hopefully this one is on par with the second one.

And maybe they can get Jeremy Irons in this one too, because he was the highlight of the first one.
As a title, I suggest: "Dungeons & Dragons 4 : Fumble!"
Dungeons & Dragons movie.. I remember Nostalgia Critic's review lol.

Get John Hurt and Ian Mckellen in that aswell.

Now if only Christopher Lee and Tony Jay still lived.
I know most people think they are terrible movies, but I enjoy them all. They are pretty cheesy but very fun. Have the first 3 on DVD and will look forward to the next one.
I didn't even know that there are sequels to that holy crap.

Of the first two, I think that the first one is a terrible movie, but as I noted, I've watched it a lot. Like, more than some movies that I actually think are good. Which I guess speaks to something about it. I wish the third had come out on DVD here, maybe it didn't because of the weird legal stuff mentioned in the article? Hell if I know, it shows up on the Syfy channel on occasion but I don't get it.
I didn't even know there was a third one. The first one was definitely awful, but so awful you just have to see it again and again to because the awfulness is so incredible it fails to register correctly the first time. I don't remember even seeing the second one.

I think that John Hurt is recovering for treatment for Cancer at the moment, alas.
I got the R2 DVD of the third D&D movie super cheap. Actually liked it better than the second one.
Well they made four Jaws movies, so this makes sense.
I hope they get Uwe Boll to direct, he has experience in turning fantasy properties into great movies.
The third movie was the closest to (fourth edition) D&D.
Well, I would definately be happy to see a new, good major fantasy movie. But the whole idea of a D&D movie always felt a little silly to me, not just because of how they turned out so far. I have to point out here, that I'm not big on D&D novels or comics either. You see, for me D&D is all about the heroes increasingly bat-shit crazy plans, incredible random failures and equaly surprising succeses with impossible tasks. It's about talking out of character, pretending not to have meta game knowladge while still trying to use it, hoarding loot etc.

I have not seen it yet, but I own it and I think from the description that The Gamers is probably as close to a "real D&D" movie as we can get.

That's just silly, what you're describing is a movie based on playing D&D, not D&D itself.
Actually, D&D itself is a terrible basis for a movie since it's basically just a generic fantasy setting in which to have adventures. In the IGN article however they mention the Forgotten Realms which is a campaign setting with a ton of lore, so that's at least a better basis for a movie.

But that what D&D is for me. For me there is no "D&D itself" separate from playing it. Without playing it it's just a book full of rules and tables on my shelf.

I know there is a ton D&D novels and "lore" and whatnot. And that is great for those who care and enjoy it. But from my perspective none of that ever mattered much. None of my D&D groups cared too deeply about the lore, I certainly did not.
