Greetings.

I was browsing the Youtube "webways" and saw a suggested video in the right column that I got curious about.
It started with the nice Napalm Record logo. Then I died a little inside..

What is happening with the world?

The song's OK, what's so bad about it (besides the music video)?

Only bands I listen to like that are Within Temptation and Nightwish, they all start to sound a bit samey to me after a bit.
isn't this normal for napalm records?
Goddamn, this is horrendous.

Sound like Sonata Arctica, urgh.
I ... Don't really see what's wrong. The song is fine.

They do, right? Kinda shame, Nightwish used to be fairly distinctive. At least I'm not the only one who thiks so :D

Oh, here we go. Try this. For whatever reason they remind me of Nightwish more than ... Well... Modern Nightwish. Altho my understanding of music is roughly on the level of a dead pidgeon.

I never heard of delain before thanks for the linkage :)

I have all of WT's albums except the most recent, I just couldn't get into it, I think all of these groups get to a point where they just plateau and everything goes downhill from there.

I like this song from WT :

The OP's link reminds me more of Amberian Dawn (or - as the video description suggested - Epica) than classic Nightwish--but this is a style of music that strongly appeals to me as a rule, so I'm quite sensitive to differences other people might consider minor.

I imagine there exist some people who can tell rappers apart, and care about that.

I do see what you mean. It's not very Napalm Death, is it? I mean, it's okay. But not the right label really.

Tristania is one I'd recommend. Especially World of Glass.
My point was that it used to mean something when you saw a Napalm Record label. It meant it was hard.
It have lost its hard core. Though it have compensated with good softer bands and it's still here and I like that.
Though I miss the good old Napalm Records when tough was a requisite.
I really hate that narrow minded pov... reminds me of those old hardcore stereotypes where a band was considered a commercial sellout as soon as they sold more then a few thousand records.

If all record companies would have remained on their niche market, we couldn't enjoy stuff like Apocalyptica, Van Canto and probably some specific sub-genres, too.
What's actually wrong with this video? When you posted your topic, I thourght it's gonna be some Justin Bieber or other shit.

I didn't like the video, but it's not nearly as disaterous as some black metal 1-men "bands".

Epica, Avantasia, Stratovarious, these are among what I like

All those "trve metal" debates remind me of high school.

Evanescence, Bieber, Timberlake, Shakira, are only a few step away from this metal "genre".

Buwah?
World of Glass is, well, pretty poor, to be polite.
If you're going to check out Tristania, make it one of the first two albums - Widow's Weeds or Beyond the Veil. Tristania went downhill after Morten Veland was kicked out of the band - and quickly.
