OK let me explain this as best as I can. Last December I ordered what I heard was one of the best mouses for gaming, A Razor Naga Mouse (jpeg below is the exact mouse I have)

http://assets.razerzone.com/eeimages/products/13785/razer-naga-2014-right-03.png

I bought this one mostly for durability reasons, I want a mouse that can last a long time and one where I can mash the buttons a lot for games like Diablo. So during the first few months the mouse was working perfectly. But since February the mouse keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. Also I notice the when it disconnects the lights on the mouse are still on. Now at first mabye its the mouse itself, I notice that moving the cable affects it.

BUT I gave the mouse to my brother to use on his desktop, he played a whole DOTA 2 match with it (usually last less than an hour) and not once did it disconnect for him. So my brother told me the possibility that its not the mouse, but driver issues on my computer.

Right now I am just asking for your help if anyone knows how to fix this problem.

EDIT I think I fixed it:

Check your USB ports. They may be getting worn down a bit and the plug from your mouse isn't making contact with the port on your PC. I had this issue with a couple of ports of mine for some odd reason. Switching to a different USB port *should* help :)

Well I did plug the mouse in another USB port and its still the same problem. Though I just did that for one port I never bothered trying the rest.
I presume the mouse is USB and corded, have you tried a different port?

edit: I see Judas beat me to it. ;)

Try the front usb to be sure.

Then the plug might be getting worn on the mouse but I don know that what you describe is basically one part not making contact with the other since you are getting lights on your mouse.

If this were my mouse I'd try gently tapping the mouse's USB plug to try and get it into a tighter shape so that it makes full contact with the USB port on your PC.

What do mean by tapping the mouse's USB plug?

I assume you use a laptop. It's probably the cord, bend it here and there near the plug when the plug's in the socket and see if it affects anything. Corded mice don't survive my laptop, the cord gets frayed from the relatively rougher handling of the computer and eventually turns to shit. In contrast, no desktop mice USB cords died on me in 10 years (since I upgraded from D-sub to USB).

Plugged it in the front USB port. Still the same problem.

And now my brother refuses to help me because he thinks I depend on him too much and I have to do this myself. Because I have to learn :P

No I have a desktop myself. With a 650 in toe.

See the metal part? I mean tapping that to see if it makes for a tighter connection BUT don't do it, though, as I am not 100% sure if it's the plug or your mouse's cord.

You fail to factor in that my mouse is a Razor Naga. I linked a jpeg of the exact mouse I have.

I assumed that this a was a problem with the Razor Naga mouse brand.
Try the mouse on a friend's computer and see if it behaves identically. If it does, it's prolly the cord. If not...Well, the USB ports might be fragged. and when you get an issue on the motherboard, that tends to cascade in time. I hope it's the cord. If the mouse it's still in warranty period, go to service.

I'd actually say its a driver issue - have this on and off myself - having tried various different meeses, usb ports etc... its the dodgy default driver.

Edit: the other thing to check of course is the USBs power management under device manager - if the computer can turn them off to save power, it might be causing the issue

Is your mouse a Razor Naga aswell?

Also if it is a driver issue? How do I fix it?

I don't even know what a driver is. Is it a software thing or a hardware thing.

Great, then the mouse might be alive after all. Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix the issue... maybe run a virtual OS (Hiren's, BartPE, virtual Ubuntu) and see if it persists?

Heck I worry if I still have it in my room.

And remember I ordered the mouse online and not from a retail store.

I am using the mouse as I speak. But sometimes it just disconnects and reconnects. Even the lights are still on when it stops working.
