So I have a "friend" (we're going to call him that for lack of a better term) that I'm trying to get out of my life. He decided to buy me a game on GOG and send me the account information. But as he knows, I do not currently have a PC which can play games. He's trying to leverage me into spending money i'm saving on a computer through various means. I asked politely for them to refund the money and they're claiming that they cannot because a "download attempt has been made for the game." This is completely impossible. I have a crappy PC that I use on occasion at my job which I obviously do not play games on. Other than that I have a tablet I use for reading and such, that it all. It is impossible that I tried to download this game. They don't even say that the game was downloaded they say "an attempt was made." I'm posting this here as a public service to you all to show you what you're dealing with. These people will make every attempt to deny you any kind of refund regardless of what circumstances may arise for you. They do not care about their customers and I will be posting this same thing on every consumer report website I can. Please think twice before buying a game from "GOG." Thank you and have a nice day.
Perhaps your friend downloaded the game (you said they gave you the account information).
So... your friend...

bought a game...

and gave you the login information...

and you demanded a cash refund...

and GOG won't give it to you?

...

Are you familiar with the term "eugenics"?

Unfortunately I've already bought 736 games here, but I'll tell you what, I'll for sure think twice before purchasing #737!

If I ever find myself in this clusterfuck of a situation you are describing, I bet I'll have bigger fish to fry than to worry about refunds for games I didn't even pay for.
So your "friend" bought a game for you, and sent you the account information? Did your "friend" use your credit card/PayPal information to make the purchase? Did your "friend" tell you this before or after he purchased it?

And why is this so obvious? I use my work computer to play games all the time. In fact I'm on it right now.
That doesn't smell fishy at all.

Bloody GOG !
As Gabi said in the first reply already: Maybe it was your "friend" who tried to download something.

Furthermore I'd like to suggest you to have a look at GOG's user agreement.

6.8 Final sale: a sale is considered final either 30 days after purchase or when you try to download the GOG content or any additional/bonus content. Once either of those happens, you no longer will have any return, exchange or refund options unless you have technical issues covered by paragraph (c) above.
In other words: We're perfectly aware of how anti-customer GOG is.

Yeah and I do the same. But we don't have any bosses who kick us out of their companies when they see us gaming or wasting our time on internet forums ;)
