The Mold has plans for you, kid!

Motivational Growth, a little sick-to-the-head, but nonetheless inspiring movie arguing the real importance of getting "out there" before you get too mold, is available 33% off on GOG.com. That's $3.99 for the first 48 hours!

Ian Folivor, a depressed and reclusive 30-something, finds himself taking advice from a growth in his bathroom after a failed suicide attempt. The Mold, a smooth talking fungus who was born of the filth collecting in a corner of Ian's neglected bathroom, works to win Ian's trust by helping him clean himself up and remodel his lifestyle. With The Mold's help, Ian attracts the attention of a neighbor he's been ogling through his peephole, Leah, and he manages to find a slice of happiness despite his unnatural circumstances. But Ian starts to receive strange messages from his old and broken down TV set that make him realize that The Mold may not be as helpful as it seems to be, and strange characters combined with stranger events cast Ian's life in the shadow of an epic battle between good and evil that Ian is only partially aware of.

Starring absolutely no Oscar nominees whatsoever, the Devolver Digital presentation, Motivational Growth, can be yours for only $3.99. The 33% discount offer lasts until Sunday, October 26, at 9:59AM GMT.

omega64: I know. :P
I'm not an idiot.
I'm not talking about conversion. I mean the store page shows 3.19 Euro's yet it made me pay 2,49 in euro's.
Kinda weird.
Ah sorry, wasn't trying to imply anything by my link. Sorry if it came off that way!

That is weird...did you have any store credit used in the transaction? By default the option to use store credit is checked.

Ah, I didn't know that. I think I actually did have some store credit.
I didn't think you were implying anything. :)
I would appreciate it though if an order confirmation showed the full price and a - for the used store credit as it does for the launch discount.
For those of you claiming, "finally, a GOG offered film worth watching!", I'd really like to point out Rewind This! Yes, it is another documentary, but (especially for those appreciating the physical effects/etc, it'll probably hit home with a lot of you guys. It is fun, informative, and total nostalgia.

deonast: Thanks for the link, one day when I get some time I'll have to play around with that utility

JudasIscariot: Speaking of the commentary track, we received it as a WAV file separate from the movie. Since we received it a separate file, there was really no way to include it in the movie as you'd have to sync up the commentary somehow with what's happening in the movie. Subtitles are something we can sync as they are 1:1 as far as content goes but a movie commentary? Well, that's another beast entirely. Keep in mind that I am no movie expert or anything :)

Also, with these movies I get to put my lip-reading talents to use as I use that as one form of checking whether the subs are in sync with the movie i.e does the lip movement match the subtitles presented :)
I should really download my copy and take a look before the comments below -- (I will later)

Ah I see what you mean yes that would require a bit more work, assuming they recorded commentary for the full length of the film there would still be some fiddling of playback speed eg DVD playback frame per second are different to blu-ray etc so if they did the commentary based on different frames per second to what you have that would need adjustment. Though not insurmountable, for guys like yourselves who are not a studio post production centre with that kind of equipment, it probably is an ask.

Of course studios like warner bros are no better (sometimes worse). I get Blu-rays with no special features and you look at the DVD copy and go hey there is a commentary, if they just re-synced the audio adjusted the playback speed they could have mastered that in. Surely the big studios have those kind of resources.

Guess I'm not really expecting that much yet, just nice to have - but I would like to wack some big studios with a stick since they have the resources and equipment to do better with less overall overhead.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll be sure to take a look.
Is it just me or is the "mg_trailer.zip" zip file corrupt. Just downloaded it twice now (firefox first time) Free Download manager download tool second time and I get decompression errors with both 7zip and powerarchiver when I try to extract the mov file.

"Unsupported compression method for 'mg_trailer\MG Trailer.mov' " with 7zip and powerarchiver just fails to extract it.

Excellent thanks for that all good now.

Wow that is one big trailer, tried to play it back from my server, but so much data in such a small frame of time and my poor little network can't handle it. Guess I'll copy it to my pc for playback or perhaps time for an upgrade to the network.
So, short:
Should I get that movie? Is it good?
Still undecided.
Does it have Outer Limits or Twilight Zone quality storywriting?

No spoilers please :-)

I know, I know, old thread, but I saw the movie yesterday.
It's good, but scary, too, in a way that I can describe as "painfully approachable".
Like, it can happen to you, too. So take care of yourself. That's the message the movie sent me! :)
I have watched this movie two times already and I absolutely love it but as a non-native English i would like to understand 100% of the dialogues.

Can anybody tell me if the subtitles are any good? or is it the kind of subbed movie with one line dropped once in a while? (gog is the only plarform offering subs for this movie)

Thanks in advance for answering!
