Tormentfan: I'd only recommend that tweak for inexperienced players, or for a fast game not using pause.
TheCycoONE: Thanks. I'd say I've played quite a few other D&D games so I'll skip that. What about the other options.
Banter Accelerator seems very highly recommended by most sources - is it still relevant if I'm going to take my time exploring everything?
BG Style THACO Display and Quicksave/Quickload seem quite safe and probably good to have.
Are any of the others recommended, given that I:
Am experienced with D&D RPG games
Have never played PS:T and will likely only play through it once
Tend to be the sort of player that tries to explore everything
Typically play rouge/thief class
Do not want to unbalance the game
In particular how do people feel about: Save Nodrom!, Use Floating Text Font Globally, and Explore City Areas, as besides the two above, those are the three that based on the descriptions I think would be less controversial and disruptive to the intended gameplay.
Personally I don't trust the quicksave feature, I've no proof that it's capable of corrupting saves, but then again I've no proof that it won't, err on the side of safety, leave it.
Explore all areas (I think) is supposed to remove war of fog, but I still come across areas it doesn't affect, I install it.
THAC0---- yes.
Banter accelerator---- yes.
my opinion on the rest follows:
Scale of Souls----- depends how you want to play the game, if you want to see, in numbers, the morale of your party then go ahead. I like it, especially if you play high wis, high int for all the conversation options, you can see how your actions and words affect your party.
Save Nordom---- ABSOLUTELY, Nordom is a great character, and this tweak allows you to keep everyone (just remember to pick the cube back up)..I don't want (but will if you want) to spoil any more, but there's no sense in installing it if you don't know how to use it.
Disabled Stat Minimums---- again it depends, if you don't mind pure chance then don't, it can have a big effect on the game, if you haven't played before then probably yes, install it.
Maximized Friends Spell--- I don't install this, it add unpredictability to a combat system that can be too easy with it installed.
No Battle Music--- I like the music, so no for me.
Use Floating Text Font Globally...no, just a font thing, but the game does it well enough without messing with.
Identify All Items---- no, unless you don't ever want to use magic or have trips to the stores regularly, I don't, identify has always been a feature I don't see the point in removing it. Anyway Dak'kon can learn Identify if you're not going to.
Early Glabrezus Tweak--- these spawn earier in the game with this.. they give loads of XP (although not as much as the normal later ones do) and they drop some nice 'stuff'.. They're a good fight, it depend what mood I'm in to whether or not I install it.
Power Action Leprechaun Annah---- comes down to personal taste it's just a silly reskin. I don't, I prefer the original models.
Easter Egg Morte---- same as Annah
Rest Anywhere--- this is more dificult to decide on, finding somewhere to rest
can be a pain, especially when needing to heal or learn spells but I find camp hunting can add to the game, if you want the game a lot easier then by all means install it.
Tome Of Cheats---- no.
Not much of a difference to the 'recommended' but there's one or two.
The most important thing is to enjoy the game, so whatever works to that end is good, no matter what you choose. :) To get the MOST out of the game a high Wis and Int is necessary for all the conversation and memory options, which means you're really better of playing a magic user.
