Most of GOG.com users already know that Planescape: Torment is one of the best games ever created. What's even cooler about it, fans of the game made it even better with lots of mods and enhancements, but it's pretty difficult to figure out what modifications and in which order they should be installed. Thanks to Johnny Walker aka ThunderPeel2001, who originally posted this article a detailed description of the fastest and easiest way to get the best of Planescape: Torment.

Miaghstir: Go to the options screen (diskette symbol), then video options, and enable (or disable if it's enabled) software mirroring.
You, sir, are going to heaven :)

Kinda sucks that it will be all mirrored and all but hey, it's Planescape.

No, it's always mirrored, the animations only exist for west-facing directions. The only difference is whether it's mirrored in hardware or software - and the performance hit of software is irrelevant today.

Thank you, this guide is very useful :)

barichnikov: I tried this, but the Ultimate Fixpack and the Tweaks Pack just pop a blackscreen and vanish right away :(

Any clues on what could be the problem ?

serestrum: try to copy/ paste for 2 times the files of the mods, and then run the .exe ^^
I have the same problem, but with the Unfinished pack, and the workaround you suggested doesn't work (it did for the Ultimate Fixpack though). I have to insist with the copy/pasting? Unfortunately the window doen't last enough for me to read what's the problem, and if it different from what I had with the Ultimate Fixpack :\

EDIT: Nevermind, problem solved. It seems that the .exes have a will of their own and can decide when run, lol. I don't

When I use the widescreen mod, the image is discolored and divided by black bars. its in the correct resolution and this visual distortion is the only problem. Wondering if anyone has a fix for this.
I think there are typo on this line:

When the new window opens, choose to install "Component [Widescreen Mod]" -- even if your monitor is not widescreen -- by typing "I" and pressing ENTER.

It should be "1" not "I".

Make sure if you're installing on Win 7, that you disable AV during the patching process and run each installer as Administrator.

Ghostdog's mod wouldn't run unless I chose this.

Also bear in mind that some of the links in the mod guide are out of date, you'll want to look for the latest version for each mod, especially the widescreen mod.

The link to Bigg's Widescreen mod 404s, is using widescreen-v3.05 instead of widescreen-v2.60 okay?

I think that's what I installed for a friend, and that worked.
Nice :)
Amazing!

I've used widescreen mod and many of the tweaks, but UI always bothered me. Now that is solved as well, courtesy of this blog, great modding community and GOG.com.

This is why I love Infinity Engine games; they are supported by a great community. I wish my other favorite RPG franchise - Realms of Arkania - is as moddable. That way more people would discover those gems.
Thank you very much for this guide, game looks much better now :).
THIS is what I needed! I tried replaying the game many times (never completed it) but the low resolution, the many bugs on modern computers, etc. all put me off. Now it feels like a proper modern game (even more so since real modern games have worse interfaces).

I forgot how much attention to detail this game has. So many things to write, so many details that are easy to miss ...
Thanks.
Thanks! I'm gonna use these.

I like the clarity that it adds not only to the text but to the GFX as a whole (and the new artworks surrounding the menus).

I do wish that I could have the new clarity but retain the old large GFX over the new smaller GFX, though. I can see the details better the old way....

But in any case, excellent work! I should try to keep abreast on the updates. :)
I played briefly after installing just Bigg's Widescreen Mod, and everything seemed fine. After installing the rest of them, restarting my computer, and loading a new game file, though...the flavor text is gone!

What I mean is, when I mouse over flavor-texted objects, like the corpses on the slabs in the starting area, I don't get clicktext anymore...I just get the red "No!" cursor. Can anyone help?

Windows 7, if that helps.
