Oh no, shooters! My only vice! Well, I guess the new liver has to wait for another month.

clarry: If I knew how to fix variable mouse sensitivity in FEAR, I'd recommend it.
avatar
mk47at: The last time I researched that problem, the common solution was to unplug all Logitech USB devices.
I don't believe in that solution..

Because it doesn't work? Or because all your mice are Logitech or it's an inelegant kludgy solution or something?

ChrisGamer300: My days of collecting every piece of crap i came over just because it's cheap has been done for a long time.
Right! Hold out for cheap piece of crap games that are at least rated 3.9/5! Well, 3.7/5. 3.5/5. Something.

Question for anyone who played Amid Evil:

how mazelike are levels? To the degree of Doom, or gods help me, Hexen; or it's something more managable?
avatar
tfishell: Also need CoD Warchest. And Dead Space 2 and other EA games on Steam. And Serious Sam 2.
avatar
Andrey82: All CoDs up to the Ghosts and Crysis 2 and 3 too! Also, Battlefiled BC2, 3, 4 and Hardline would be nice. And Far Cry 3-5 with addons. :)
Basically more of the tough-to-catch AAA games. :P

You are free to buy those games if you wish and make up your mind whether you think they are good, the games scores are irrelevant to me. Besides that line i used was referring to a general behavior that was a bad habit long ago to justify buying Necrovision simply because it's cheap, no point unless i was going to play it since it would just clutter up my library instead and from what i have seen of Necrovision i'm not impressed regardless of the score it may have.

I wouldn't just trust anyone to recommend me FPS these days.

All the mice I currently use are logitech, yes. And it's an inelegant kludgy solution, and I don't believe the game actually cares about the brand label on my mouse.

I don't know what they did, but they clearly programmed something incredibly stupid, because that workaround definitely works. I could play the game when I switched my Logitech mouse for an older Microsoft one.

Edit: Here is another workaround: https://steamcommunity.com/app/21090/discussions/0/343785380897389173/

I tried dinput8.dll, it did not help.

Also, that's not the same problem. I don't have an issue with framerate dropping. I have an issue with non-constant mouse sensitivity, which seems to be affected by framerate.

Chill dude, I was just joking, no need to be grim about it.

On the serious side I think you are wise to have broken the habit of buying bad games just because they were cheap. I've been known to do the same.

Thanks -- I was just curious.

On the technical side of things, you're right that it typically wouldn't be because a game cared about the brand name, but in a hypothetical case where the brand nonetheless mattered, it would typically be because that brand happened to do something different in its hardware or protocol or driver (including plain old design or manufacturing bugs) than other brands, not because the game checked the brand and varied *its* behavior based on brand.

So in such a hypothetical situation, it's not at all impossible for the brand to matter, for those reasons.

I wouldn't know about the particular problem you ran into; I'm just saying. Not that it changes anything for you.

With buying shooters you get a lot of 'bang for the buck'.... I will leave quietly.

I think you misunderstood, i'm not worked up over this. I just thought you where serious since it's kind of hard to detect whether you was sarcastic or not so i simply implied you could always try them and see for yourself if they deserve the scores they have. tbh i think you would disagree with quite a few.

Review scores is always unreliable especially if you don't know someones personal tastes, how they feel about the genre, which style of gamelay they prefer like fast paced or slow paced story etc.

Hoarding is too easy nowadays especially when you're flooded with sales 24/7 throughout the year.

I agree on all counts, and sorry that I misinterpreted you. Unreliable review scores cause me a lot of trouble -- as do highly energetic and opinionated but diametrically opposed reviews and so on. So sometimes I hoard too much, other times I get disgusted at doing that and cut way back. But I've yet to find a balanced optimal strategy, other than turning to an altogether different hobby.

You can't leave quietly, there's always someone who brings eggs and tomatoes to these things.
