Nifty! I like folk metal quite a bit, and hadn't heard of Arkona. After listening to some of their songs I'll definitely be grabbing a few of their albums. Also looks like one of their shows will be in my neck of the woods, so I might try to make it to that. Thanks for bringing them to my attention.

And while I'm at it, a bit more folk metal goodness:
Finntroll- Skogsdotter
Eluveitie- Luxtos
Saltatio Mortis- Ebenbild
Korpiklaani- Ruumiinmultaa (love the rockin' fiddle work towards the end)

Elmofongo: But these days as of now I just cannot listen to anyother thrash but Slayer these days, Hell Awaits is their best song.
Anyone have the Slayer's Show No Mercy Album. I recently got a new CD (old one was scratched all to hell), and the vocals I can barely hear. Almost sounds like a bootleg from a concert, but it was purchased from Amazon.
Am I imagining things that my original album I could hear the vocals. I threw away my old CD, so I have no way of comparing it.
CD is labeled as 2004.

Must be something with what DP said above about the loudness wars. Not a chance Slayer ever get a guitar hero game, so I guess out of luck there. Perhaps I am also remembering the tracks from Live Undead. I still have the original Live Undead CD.

Thankfully, I have all my CD's ripped to wavs now, so I will not lose anymore to the loudness wars.

Some videos of songs from the new album of Alice in chains:

Hollow

Stone

Voices

The Devil put dinosaurs here

Hollow is a bit "Far from the eyes, far from the heart" and Stones reminds me the myth of Sysiphus.
Voices has a "The Beatles" vibe, and if you get attention, there are two photos around the middle of the video.
The Devil put dinosaurs here reminds me a lot the Facelift-Dirt era: a bit from Love Hate Love, a bit from Angry Chair, a bit from Dirt, a bit from Junkhead... And the creepy video reminds me a lot grunge videos!

It's also funny to see Jerry Cantrell without long hair, it reminds me the sentence on the Mike Inez"s bass during the 1996 MTV's session: "Friends Don't Let Friends Get Friends Haircuts..." :D
