We’d like to inform you that, upon the publisher's request, METAL GEAR SOLID 2 will be temporarily delisted from our catalog on November 15th, 2021, at 8AM UTC. Apologies for the short notice.

For everyone who purchased the title prior to delisting, it will remain in their GOG library.

I love this game, but in retrospect, I probably should not have spent money on it, I ended up getting the PS3 version anyway, which is superior, I think.

Btw why is this high rated

Cadaver747: In order to fix it you need to edit your post and put "/" in the URL address, GOG forum engine tends to leave that symbol outside when converting text into web links.

chandra: The thread is now a sticky! :)

Cadaver747: Thank you, Chandra!
Thanks!!

Anime-BlackWolf: Thanks for the warning guys, but PLEASE make it a sticky posting as always. Thanks!

chandra: Fair point, sorry for not doing that right away, I was posting after hours and it slipped my mind.

Thanks a lot for your kindness. So at least a few more people were able to buy the game before delisting. Hopefully it comes back unchanged.

Actually, I'm not so sad to see it go. It was an inferior port anyway that needed fan patches. Here's to hoping it comes back fixed....., but I doubt it! Konami cares more about Pachinko.

To be fair, it's not (back?) on Steam, either.

It was never on Steam to begin with, but it was also removed from PSN, Xbox Live and eShop for 3, none of which have come back. Unless Konami's planning on doing some crazy mega collection like they've been doing these past few years, don't expect this game to come back, ever.

Licenses are a nightmare, you have to look who hold the rights from people who probably are already dead or they split those rights among their heirs or other people who bought them. It takes a long time and is a lot of work that we often don't see.
Would be cool if Konami ported the HD collection to PC. That collection is like the only reason I haven't thrown out my ancient PS3 already.
It’s coming back for the 35th anniversary.

Other than wishful thinking, a link or some proof would be helpful.

EDIT: This is what google turned out for me: https://www.techtimes.com/articles/277981/20220713/konami-brings-back-metal-gear-games-coming-stores-35th-anniversary.htm

No clear mention as to what will be returning. Most likely it will be Metal Gear Solid 5, since it was removed on consoles(Xbox 360 & PS3), but other than that... we appear to be in the "wishful thinking" situation.

Ya the way that post is typed gives vibes that it may be more of a "collection" release like they have done with Castlevania, Contra, and Gradius, so that would be all the console versions of the games but the emulation has been hit and miss on some of them.
