keeveek: Nice action, good drama
(a little boy, anyone?). I'm waiting for the full game.
Don't want
Origin on my computer, so have watched a playthrough of the demo instead.
By God was it terrible! :(
SPOILERS warning
Just as in ME2 overall, there are plotholes big enough to fly Sovereign through. Dialogue is almost non-existent, with Shepard saying stuff you may not at all want him to say (auto-dialogue instead of the options we had in ME).
Then the cringeworthy sequence with the kid, a cheap trick to try and get an emotional reactions - just like in DA2. Horrible. Just horrible.
There isn't much dialogue, but for some stupid reason they conclude it's a smashing idea to stand around and talk while the Reapers are blowing up stuff around them. Hey Reapers, it's only the Normandy with Shepard and co on board. You know, the fucker that stopped you from coming into the Citadel and wasting the galaxy, and the bloke who mucked up the Collectors base. Not important of course. Let's waste that small ship with the kid on board instead.
TRIPLE FACEPALM.
It was actually worse than I feared. Either the writers have been instructed to give their collective middle finger to the story and everything that happened in ME (and a lesser extent ME2 since there was basically no story there either), or they have been smoking some seriously strong stuff. I don't even want to think about how the rest of the game plays, or how the writing is.
It was embarrassing. No, insulting. This is the same company that brought us greats as Baldur's Gate??
Obviously it's not the same company any more. It's all about counting money and getting into the shooters market now, but it's still sad to see such a great game developer turn to utter tripe.
Will not buy this game, and doubt I will even bother to watch a playthrough of it. We all know how it will end anyway, more or less. It will also follow the typical BioWare recipe. The Reapers are invading Earth and blowing the place to bits. So what do we do? "Fight or die!"? Nope. Let's go and save a krogan woman from some salarians. Awesome!
After that I'm sure more loyalty and recruiting missions will follow. Then, at the very end, we'll probably see another boss fight with the Reapers. Hopefully not quite as stupid as the human Terminator thing in ME2, mind.
BioWare deserve praise for the universe they set up in ME. It was wonderful and opened up so many questions and possibilities for the future. Then they spend the next two games crapping all over it, and probably countless DLCs too (I don't touch those milking cows).
ME2 was the warning sign. DA2 was the ultimate evidence. BioWare is now dead.
