Skystrider: I thought Mass Effect 3 is supposed to be a big game, yet you folks complete it in a couple of days? O.o

It's taken me one and a half month to play through Mass Effect 2, even though I have played it before. That's playing about two hours a day on avarage. Is ME3 shorter, or is it just that I'm a garden-variety snail-gamer?
Snail gamer I guess. Same here. I play 2 hours a day playing the game since it came outand I just got past Sur Kesh.

90 hours?

Everybody plays different but I played it through on one weekend, 8 - 10 hours at a guess.

wodmarach: My nephew played it for 30 hours straight in a single player game it's as long as ME2 at least
Ah. Good to hear that. 30 hours straight! Wow! I'm impressed. And a bit jealous. ^.^

what's annoying is his reason he "wanted to stay ahead of (me) on the rankings"

Isn't that easy as heck? I seriously the highest rank you can get is 120 and I'm already at 20 after playing a couple of hours.

theres also SP only rankings you only know they exist if you watch the rankings scrolling across the bottom without playing MP

It took me about 20 hours. For comparison, my first runthrough of Mass Effect 2 took me 16 hours.

Whitecroc: I don't see it dislodging ME2 from its position as the best game of the trilogy (well, it's a small sample size...) but it's a damn fun game
ME2 has a more directed narrative which I enjoyed. I played it something like eight times almost back to back.... to back, etc.

I can see myself getting through ME3 a couple of times, maybe three. The larger supporting cast in ME2 allowed me to run through it many times just to hear their reactions to the events. Its not really as attractive an option in ME3. Team members are tied to their particular mission, appearing as/when the game dictates.

Shepards with an investment in the Liara & Garrus characters definitely get the most out of ME3.

I think they got the curves wrong with their implementation of filmic tonemapping in ME3. They used a simpler formula in ME2, and it was possible to just edit the shader file and lighten things up. I haven't yet worked out how to do so in ME3.

True. However, the bigger replay factor for ME3 would be the conclusion and their effects anyway, as all comes together now. For example how the game reacts if you didn't touched the arrival DLC at all, took Morinth instead of Samara, Tali died on Suicide mission and so on.

While the game didn't impressed me at first, it delivered a lot up to now. Tuchanka was a turning point to the better for me, bringing back those great moments and I'm not talking about the "epic" ones - even with the solution for the Reaper being way too obvious. As well as the Samara plot line, Thane or the Quarian / Geth dispute (where I'm at right now).
However, it also had it's weak points, like talking to Jacob on the Citadel or Mirandas plot line (so far).
Overall it's great as far as I can tell, but they slipped a few times too often and didn't quiet nailed it to the point as before.
