Hello,

I have a clean installation of GOG Galaxy on my Mac laptop. When I start Galaxy I get a window with the message 'The application "GalaxyClient.app" can't be opened.' See attachment

Even so, Galaxy starts and after a little while it crashes.

I have tried deleting GalaxyClient.app along with the /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy folder and reinstalling, but the result is the same.

Is there a fix for this?

macOS Sierra 10.12.5
GOG Galaxy 1.2.9

Thanks,
Janus

Could you verify that the main executable located under GalaxyClient.app/Contents/MacOS/GalaxyClient has an executable flag (+x)? You can check that by opening Terminal app and typing:

cd /Applications/GalaxyClient.app/Contents/MacOS/
ls -la

The second command should display something like this:
drwxrwxrwx 3 fallen admin 102 May 24 09:57 .
drwxrwxrwx 9 fallen admin 306 May 24 09:57 ..
-rwxrwxrwx 1 fallen admin 17063424 May 24 09:57 GalaxyClient

Could you print that output for me? Thank you!

Hi,

Thank you for your response. The executable flag is set:

I've got a similar issue on my MacBook, here is the output from the terminal

Ok, what output you get from this command?

codesign -vvvv /Applications/GalaxyClient.app

Also what happens when you run the client from the Terminal?
cd /Applications/GalaxyClient.app/Contents/MacOS/
./GalaxyClient

Sorry for the delayed response.
Okay, looks like after I restarted my laptop the client works without any problem!
Thanks Fallen_Zen for your help!

A bunch of stuff gets written to the Terminal and after 10 retries it fails with the message below,

It looks like the same error that g3o gets, but in my case rebooting does not help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Are you using any 3rd party firewall or antivirus software? Seems client has problems connecting to communication service. Could you create an issue on mantis and attach logs from /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs? Also any crash reports from any GOG Galaxy process would be helpful (you can find those in Console app, user reports section).

Please pardon the thread necromancy, but I also just spent a couple night troubleshooting this very same issue.

After running via the CLI, I discovered that ~/Library/App Support/GOG.com was owned by root and not my user. Fixing that permissions issue solved this problem for me.

That did it for me as Well!!!! TOPP!!!!
Thx alot!
looks like here all ppl are the pro hackers that can find and fix permissions and it's grate! but can you make help for noobs lake me?))
I get back on this topic, because I have some similar issues, even if the root cause is different.

With the latest GOG Galaxy client on Mac OS 10.9.5 it start to crash everytime (I did not update it since a certain time so the issue may not be related to the last version.

But basically, here is the console output:

for /Applications/GOG Galaxy.app/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/Chromium Embedded Framework.framework/Chromium Embedded Framework
dyld: Registered code signature for /Applications/GOG Galaxy.app/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/libexpat.dylib

I found some related comment :

OSAtomicDecrement32 is in OSAtomic.h. It is useful when implementing locks or retain counts in a multi-threaded program.

It's marked as being available on 7.1 and up only (on iPhone) which is why you are crashing.

__OSX_AVAILABLE_STARTING(__MAC_NA, __IPHONE_7_1)
int32_t OSAtomicDecrement32( volatile int32_t *__theValue );

source: h t t p s : / / stackoverflow.com/questions/25342932/app-crashed-on-ios-7-0-works-fine-on-7-1

So I suspect that now the GOG Galaxy client is using OSAtomic.h which is maybe not available on my MacOs Version.

Could you confirm please? and maybe if a fix could be proposed?

Thanks a lot!
