It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all). We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera
lowyhong: I hope you didn't overlook my post just above yours. Also, Neuro Hunter over at Gamersgate seems to be right up your alley too. Never tried that, but a few guys around here were commending it. Again, it's another RPG that seems to want to be like System Shock.
Neuro hunter is horribly, HORRIBLY unpolished. It's not bad per se, it's got quite a few good ideas, but it was not worth my money and I paid 10 bucks for it

Also, do you consider post apoc car combat to be sci-fi?
Didn't overlook it, just trying to keep up with the suggestions and that one deserved some research (never heard of it before). Not too sure about it. It definitely meets the sci-fi requirement, but it doesn't really seem to be a RPG, more of a hybrid shooter/resource collection game. I'm not sure those are really the two great tastes that go great together, if you know what I mean.
Already have Neuro Hunter, totally forgot I had it until you posted, which should tell you how good it actually is.
EDIT - Shadowrun is definitely one to consider (the old-school console one, not the newer travesty). I played on the Sega Genesis back in the day, but I understand the SNES version might actually be better.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. More of a shooter and not space sci-fi. X-Men Legends II. It came out on the PC, right? Not sure if comic book = sci-fi to you. E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy. Never played it and more of a shooter. Anachronox. Seemed like a good suggestion already made in this thread. Never played it.
It is certainly difficult to find many that fit into the category of sci-fi RPG. I'd play a lot more of them if they existed. It seems most people have
You could also try "Ur Quan Masters" if you define RPG broadly.
C&C is definitely there, and it is RPG if you define your ship as your "character". It is Freeware (open version of Star Control 2, 100% like the original, except the bugs are out), too. And one of my top 5 games.
Oh right, freeware RPG Iji - solid story, great gameplay ... It's a platformer thou. There are multiple endings, it's relatively well-written and most situations have more solutions, and especially important is if you play it pacifistic way or ... aggressive way
I probably should have mentioned freeware/FOSS games are cool too, though the two already mentioned are ones I already have (and one's not really a RPG).
BTW - Thanks for all the great suggestions, I definitely have a ton of titles to check out now. The GOG community comes through again!
There's always Metalheart: Replicant's Rampage although I would leave that for those times when your desperation for sci-fi/RPGs reaches crackhead levels...

Ew... By then he'll go through Paradise Cracked, and Harbinger will be long long forgotten.

Hmmm, Harbinger...I remember that game. The end boss was so easy to kill just use your best weapon and let the shot reflect off the wall behind it for extra damage...I also remember lots of brown in that game...
