JudasPhysicist: I'm just asking for parity between Steam and Gog's prices, at least give me a reason to consider buying from
the Gog store rather than defaulting to Steam.
Stick to the steam. GOG is not a viable option any more for many countries ever since they ended the fair pricing program. It feels like GOG is struggling to remain competitive in larger markets like Russia or US at the expense of a lot of smaller markets

Yay for EU, https://www.pcgamer.com/au/eu-commission-fines-valve-and-five-pc-publishers-euro78-million-for-geo-blocking-games/

"investigations began in 2017" and "These breaches concern the same European countries, and took place over the period March 2007 to November 2018." GOG starts their local pricing i.e. regional price blocking in 2019, so congrats to GOG for dodging the EU fines.

To be fair, geo-blocking is not the same thing as regional pricing. Former has to do with prohibiting selling a particular game in a particular country and latter just determines variable pricing for variable countries but the game is still sold to anyone anywhere.

GOG started regional pricing in Feb 2014 (well, actually first did it temporarily for Witcher 2 when forced through a lawsuit by the publisher of the retail version, reversing it as soon as they could, then in 2014 it became policy). That's a different pile of crap from regional blocking. They started doing that when they launched the German storefront, in Feb 2015.

Been 6 years and I'm still expected to pay more for games than the Americans, even though the minimum wage here is about 65% less.

It's quite simple really, buy your games elsewhere. I do, even if GOG became way too expensive in my country just a couple of years ago. Eventually, as GOG starts to notice that's losing it's market share, they will either make their regional pricing more competitive or they just go out of business because no one will buy games from them any more.
