personally id love a list of ALL games that are now DRMfree but released with DRM...

Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2
Diablo 2
The Witcher 1 and 2
Far Cry 2
Arcania
Unreal(s) ?
Quake 4
Heroes 5
Alpha Protocol

and i cant think of any else that have had DRM patched out... Ive done some simple searching but i failed search engines 101 :/

This list would come in handy for game purchases. Good idea.
Would be nice, i never buy games with DRM so if a company does patch it out i would be willing to give their game a look.

Only few i can think of are From Dust, Anno 1404, AC2 all of which are Ubisoft games and they all got patched out because of complaints, devs need to learn DRM = Lost sales and increase in piracy of their games.

Diablo II had DRM?

FraterPerdurabo: Diablo II had DRM?
Disc checks many many many of them
I think that all the PC Unreal games fall into that category.
Quake 4 had disk check, then removed later
Heroes 5 had Starforce at release, then patched out.
Far Cry 2 had its activation limits and other such DRM silliness patched out.

From Dust is Steam only, so DRM is still not removed.

Alpha Protocol had DRM and they removed it with a patch

And there's no need to list games that are on GOG (like NWN1 or Witcher) because if they had any kind of DRM, it's removed for sure.

I'd like to know what's with Bioshock games. I know that limited activations were removed for 1st one, but not sure what's left.

Aye, but they have DRM removed from other channels as well through official patches. I would agree with that listing games where the only DRM-free release is GOG is unnecessary.

Arcania lost his drm with the last patch as a reaction of jowoods financial problems.
Arcania's Securerom was removed, but that doesn't mean you should buy it.

edit: ninja'd.

Egosoft usually kills the DRM in their games sometime after release so likely X2, X3:R and X3:TC

Thank you, i never knew this was the case... and ive been waiting patiently for Arcania had no idea it was pulled out.
The last patch for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 removes the SecuROM wrapper from the game executable. I don't know if a fresh install still requires activation or if you can patch without activating though.
Also, the disk check for Supreme Commander and Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance was removed with a patch. You still need your CD key and GPG.net client for multiplayer games.
