HunchBluntley: If the linked manual is a combined one for both the SEs,
Yes, the PC disc versions of the SE came on DVDs with a combined (small) manual. I'll add it to the description so it's clear.

ncs: I don't see the manual for Wizard's Crown in the download section or in the install directory. A scan of the Apple II manual can be found here:

https://mocagh.org/loadpage.php?getgame=wizcrown

I've attached a scan of the note that is in my boxed copy.

I decreased the file size some more, reference card is now also attached.

ZFR: Do you know if the PC version came with a manual? Or is the reference card all that was there?
The PC version of this came out after the Atari, Apple II and C64 versions. Often in these cases, the later versions would be supplied with the same manual together with a reference card to highlight any differences:

The mobygames.com page for this game shows the PC manual having "All Versions" on the cover:

https://www.mobygames.com/game/wizards-crown/cover-art

This version can be found at oldgames.sk and is the same as the manual at mocagh.org:

https://www.oldgames.sk/en/download.php?filedownload=9395

So, although I can't be certain, I think the manual in the link was the one that was supplied with the PC version.

Added.

Done. Thanks.

sedryntyros: This looks like a complete manual for An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire that includes the pages missing from the GOG version:

https://archive.org/download/battlespiremanual/Battlespire_Manual.pdf
All done. Thank you for your contributions and knocking some entries off the missing list.

The master list should be up to date now.

Yes, good catch. Looks like this was the case then. I'll make a note in the entry.

Sorry if it's a manual, could you please help me find a page from it? (see attached). But seriously what's wrong with my source?

The manual is the one with the "pdf" icon. See attached. It seems to contain the same pages that you linked to.

Nothing wrong with your source, but that one has box images and other items too.

Yes, it did come with a manual (as my boxed copy has). The SSI games tended to have a platform-agnostic manual (and journal entries for the goldbox games) and then a reference card for the specific system.

Yes, although the scan is from an Apple II release (and doesn't have the "all version" tag on the cover), the information is the same. So that along with the scans I attached covers all of the information you'd get had you purchased it new.

Thank you. That settles it.

Looks like the map is up, so maybe it was just a temporary glitch. I'll keep your link in mind if if dver happens again.

ZFR: Talisman: Digital Edition
• Missing manual. Physical board game manual available here. No PC replacement available yet.
Just noticed that here's an extra "f" on the end of the link that's stopping it from working.

I know I mentioned it here previously, but it might be good to mention that that game has a (non-PDF) web manual linked to from within the game (with one of those infuriating buttons that doesn't give any indication that it's going to open an external program to deliver its "payload", naturally). It's more complete with regard to the Digital edition than that PDF is, and it is a manual that's technically not included with the game. ;) It's also pretty easy to miss within the game, given that the button that opens it is near the bottom of the options menu, and is just a circular button labeled "?".

(I also still think it would be a good idea to include a link to the Talisman Island rules download page ["Talisman: Revised 4th Edition" being the appropriate section], either in addition to or instead of the direct PDF link, considering that the Digital Edition does include adaptations of physical-version expansions whose content is not covered in the base board game's manual, but only in the corresponding physical expansion manual...though there's also been a fair bit of digital-exclusive stuff, too, and that's only covered in the online manual, if at all.)

(Sorry for the mini-wall of text.)

---

On a semi-related note: in checking to see if you'd linked to web page manuals in other cases, I noticed that the online manual for Shovel Knight had its URL changed. I'm guessing they redid the whole thing, since there are now manuals for all the games/chapters that are part of the Treasure Trove. The URL for the übermanual's new landing page is as follows:

https://www.yachtclubgames.com/blog/shovel-knight-treasure-trove-instruction-manual

(The page includes links to web manuals for each of the individual titles within the Treasure Trove.)

They're not quite the same anyway. The one he linked to is higher-res and has had more cleanup done to it (removing the creases from the physical map and the seams from digitally joining the scanned sections), but is older, while the one you have linked -- while grainier and having visible creases -- includes the areas from the expansions, which aren't present in the 2002 version.
I don't include web manuals in general.

The purpose of this thread is to include manuals that had physical editions, so that a person buying a digital (re)release of a game here gets everything that he'd have gotten had he bought the game in a box.

It's more for preserving/archiving purposes than it is for utilitarian purposes. Like the sites that include scnas of game boxes and everything; only I do manuals only.

GOG can't include web manuals in the Goodies section anyway, because that section doesn't do links. Out of the 4000+ games included on GOG many are digital only, and many of those have some sort of (to a bigger or lesser degree official) guide/wiki/webpage with instructions or similar, especially given that currenlty the distinction between a web manual and simply a webpage is being blurred. It'd be a nightmare to include all those.

I can make exceptions in case of remasters or console ports, where only the original release had a physical manual, but otherwise having a physical manual is a prerequisite of being on this list.

If the game had a physical PC manual but it can't be found, then I might include the next-best-thing alternatives, like manuals in other languages, text files, or web resources if they contain similar material.

Talisman and Shovel Kight are on it because they had physical manuals.

OK, if that linked from the game then I say it's the closest thing there is to the physical manual, I'll include this link.
