hummer010: Infinity Engine Games: I know that GOG has already published the IE games using WINE, and I was surprised then that it wasn't with GemRB. GemRB is certainly my preferred method to play IE games in Linux.
Sadly GemRB doesn’t give you the vanilla experience (yet).
I gave it multiple tries, but I still come back to WINE every time.

PlaneScape still has ALOT of problems in GemRB, mostly with bugs in the UI....

hedwards: It's the same DOSBox regardless of platform. The software inside there is running the same instructions on the same emulator. I have never heard of a case of something breaking on the Linux or OSX version that worked on the Windows version.

Do you even program?

The reason why the vast majority of the computer buying market buys Windows is because most computers have Windows installed by default. MS worked hard at running the competition out of business with sleazy tactics to make it so. It has absolutely no correlation with the ease of use.

I'd recommend that you follow your own advice here. It is an objective fact that Linux isn't harder to use than Windows. Which is amazing considering how much work MS goes to in order to enable hardware vendors that are too lazy to properly implement standards.

Sure they might ask, but it's not like GOG has ever taken Linux seriously anyways, your ability to create a slippery slope argument does not make the request for Linux support any less reasonable. There's even games here like Amnesia: TDD that already have Linux support from the developer. But, you can't get it here because GOG won't offer it.

In fact I bought both Amnesia: TDD and Rogue Legacy elsewhere because they were willing to offer the entire product.

I see, so you're not computer literate, so the rest of us should have to suffer for it. Got it.

I'll be sure to ignore your posts in the future.

HGiles: Wow. That's kind of bitter and extreme of you.

I really would like Linux to be a better OS (although while Linus Torvalds I-can-abuse-you-if-I-want-to is in charge I don't think the typical UX is going to get better). But you've spent your last 2 posts insulting me and and I really don't think you have anything else to add besides more vitriol.

I hope you have a nice day.
It's because of Linus' no BS attitude that the kernel(which has nothing to do with any UI) progressed as far as it has, personally, I'm thankful that all he cares about is code quality and NOTHING else. Otherwise, we would have been stuck with the HURD.....
Check out beta update for TW2 for GOG users.
Why didn't Bastion get the Linux version in GOG release?

Well, I noticed it is not sold on the Humble Store in any other version than the Steam-tied one, I’m starting to think my DRM-free GNU/Linux version is some kind of collector now…

But I’m an eternal optimist, so here you go:

Also the Mortal Kombat trilogy is not packaged for Linux (it's a dosbox game). As far as I know it's the first one of those they haven't done for Linux since the beginning of the Linux support. So, I think the reason is legal mumbo jumbo (tm) with WB.

I was wondering about MK too. Why would WB having problems with Linux?

Looks like they don't like GOG. Then I'm not interested in it. Or that comment wasn't from the official reps?

Ii was not. It was from some normal forum member (and steam fan boy) following a previous thread: http://oldforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?p=5201630#post5201630

How do I register on that forum with some user name? It only accepts e-mail as a username which is weird. And you can't even change your e-mail once you registered.

UPDATE: I figured, you can change all that on another site. Somewhat confusing, but doable.

Future_Suture: Really? I thought GOG itself does all that! No wonder we are missing a number of Linux clients and even Mac OS clients for games that have them elsewhere i.e. Steam.

JudasIscariot: It is a bit of work to package something up as it requires the following:

1. a copy of the Linux version of the game (provided by the developer in the case of all newer games)
2. testing the game
2A. if there is a serious game breaking issue with the Linux build then it's time to gather all the necessary info to send off to the developer or publisher.
2B. see what libs are required that cannot be added to the deb/tarball.
3. testing the GOG deb/tar.gz to make sure everything works on our end
4. deploying the Linux version and adding all the necessary information to the game card (this is my part right here :) )

Not to mention that with some games that were signed waaay before we even thought about adding Linux support we are required to get the Linux version signed because just having the right to distribute the Windows and Mac versions of a game does not automatically grant us the right to distribute the Linux version of a game.

So yes, it takes a bit of work and yes, we do that ourselves :)
And that's why I buy Linux games here.

I had a discussion with them, and it seems the site is full of clueless people who think Steam is a solution for all problems. I'm not really interested in such environment. They closed the thread, as apparently they aren't interested in DRM-free releases. I'm not interested in their games then.
