vidsgame: I've tried that. Like I said, the issues are the same using DOSBox. Game asks for a CD and still displays vertical black lines.

I tried it and it seemed that it still asks for the CD and displays vertical black lines. Thank you so much. I do really appreciate the help.

vidsgame: You have any plans on adding Carmageddon Max Pack to the list?

vv221: I do not own this game, but I opened a feature request on the projet issues tracker, so if a ./play.it contributor does own it they will know someone is waiting for this game to join our list of supported games.
Sweet, thank you so much. That's wonderful.

I'm trying to install Baldur's Gate (Enchanced Edition) but whenever I try to start the build process it says: "Error:
identify not found. Install it before running this script.
". Could you help with this? I use Debian 9.4 btw.

On Debian, the command identify is provided by the package 'imagemagick'.
I need to update the instructions for Baldur’s Gate and a couple other games so this dependency is listed on the game page.

Another issue I got with the instructions is that it says I need:
"gog_baldur_s_gate_enhanced_edition_2.5.0.9.sh ". Even though I can only download version 2.3.67.3 from my library.

Right, the script needs to be updated to handle the latest installer. I’m on in right now.

You can still give a try to the current script by running it with the following option to force it to use your version of the installer:
./play-baldurs-gate-enhanced-edition.sh --checksum none baldur_s_gate_enhanced_edition_en_2_3_67_3_20146.sh

-----

The script downloadable from here has been updated to work on the latest GOG installer.

Hello World!
With our month-long silence, you might be thinking that we have quite a lot of updates to share today… And you would be right about it ;)

The library itself saw a lot of improvements, and there is still a couple really nice things we’re working on right now:
2.8.2

  * icon_extract_ico_from_exe: Suppress wrestool error output

  * icon_get_resolution_from_file: Fix compatibility with scripts targeting
library version 2.7 or older in a more robust way than what has been done
    in 2.8.1

  * Fix typo in help(), that led to suboptimal wording when called on a script
    with a single supported archive

2.8.1

  * Fix icon_get_resolution_from_file and icons_linking_postinst compatibility
with scripts targeting library version 2.7 or older

  * WINE: Do not remove links to $HOME for scripts targeting library version
    2.7 or older

2.8.0

  * Greatly reduce time taken by play.it meta-script to identify the correct
script for an archive, by using file name before falling back on MD5 hash
    sum

  * WINE: Remove most links pointing outside of the WINE prefix, to reduce
    $HOME clutter

  * Rework most icon-related code for easier understanding and maintenance

  * Use ImageMagick to extract .png files from .ico containers

  * Update dependencies automatic detection based on new icon extraction
    methods

Of course we kept updating scripts at a steady rate, so here are the updates since previous announcement:
Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition

Update

Latest installers for Deus Ex (from Revision 1.4) won’t be supported, as they use a new undocumented packaging method that our current tools aren’t able to handle.
The last supported installer is:
setup_deus_ex_goty_1.112fm(revision_1.3.1)_(17719).exe
Hello everyone!

We kept workin hard these last week, and here goes what is probably the last update before 2.9 release:
2.8.3

* Fix typo in help(), that led to suboptimal wording when called on a script
with a single supported archive (previous 2.8.2 fix was incomplete)

* Add automated shellcheck tests based on GitLab CI

* Improve syntax based on shellcheck 0.5.0 report

A couple scripts have been updated:

Add a missing dependency that could cause issues with fullscreen display
Add an optional icons pack for people wanting to use the original game icon instead of the GOG-provided one
Add support for Siege of Dragonspear expansion, big thanks to Dawnmist who made his first constribution to ./play.it!

Do you take requests? I would love to see these three upgraded to playit2 (so they support Arch!):
Knights of the Old Republic
Temple of Elemental Evil
Vampire: the Masquerade

Here is the best place to post requests:
https://framagit.org/vv221/play.it/issues

I already have a task open for updating scripts to ./play.it 2:
https://framagit.org/vv221/play.it/issues/9
I’m adding your list of games in this one so they sould take higher priority ;)

Thank you! I didn't even think to look for anywhere to make the request on the play.it website.

I won’t blame you, I’m not sure this issues tracker is advertised anywhere outside of our IRC channel…
We really need to find a community manager soon!

Innoextract 1.7 is live, and it allows extraction of the new Windows GOG installers:
https://github.com/dscharrer/innoextract/releases/tag/1.7

Next version of ./play.it library should be able to use it, meaning games no longer supported due to this new installer format will be soon supported again ;)

Does ./play.it download any additional data at runtime? I want to make sure all my software is able to work offline. :)

Wowfunhappy: Does ./play.it download any additional data at runtime? I want to make sure all my software is able to work offline. :)
One of the rules of ./play.it development is to never access the network ;)

If you’re missing something when you run a script, be it a command not available on your system or an extra archive needed for the game you’re trying to package, the script will warn you about it but won’t download anything by itself.
