I used to come tothis forum a lot but not anymore, the problem is if the game isnt populair then there wont be people looking at it there are even games that there are no topics. I even get answers months or even years after I post it and have forgottoten about it.
It is very bad because some games im curious about but since noone reacts I dont buy the game.
Its too bad because you have games with tons of positive reviews but they dont look at the forum.

Have you tried posting under the general forum in such cases? - I'm sure if the subforum is dead you'll at least glean a few immediate reactions that way - particularly if you make the topic a question.

It's hard to get from the game page to the forum, unlike Steam. That would be my explanation.
The problem is also i think that if sosmeone owns a lot of gog games you get a huge list of games that noone´s gonne bother to scroll trough to answer someones question.

Perhaps, but most people dont go into the subforums unless THEY have an issue.
So really, considering the general forum has been available all this time, you could have made use of it (perhaps along with the "reply" function - often speeds things up a bit! :)).
Forum - Good.
Main site (after the recent change) - Bad.
Not sure if anyone at GOG is still looking at this thread, but I'll post my opinion anyway...

Even though this forum is still basic, it does seem to have gotten off to a good start. Some points that should be looked at are as follows:

Rep System: I have no problem with it. I know some have said they don't like the down-vote feature, but I look at it tthis way: If someone is offended in any way by a post, then the down-vote instantly removes it from their own view. Also, some posts do deserve to be down-voted, and the option to do that is preferential to someone getting into a flame war. So if it helps stop that, then it might be good to keep.

Forum Sections: As the forum grows, there will be a need for more sections to be added. Even if they're just vague genre sections for games users play that aren't available on GOG.

Moderation: NoooOOOOOoooo! I think these GOG forums have clearly proved that a forum community is quite capable of self-moderating. I've found that most people on here are level-headed and mature enough to deal with any trolling and bad behaviour themselves (the down-rep button helps with that). I've been quite impressed with the gaming knowledge many have here. We have quite alot of veritable gaming gurus on here who really do know their stuff!

A forum loses all character when you install teams of moderators, because then you get the over-sensitive types who report anything to them. So you end up with bans being imposed for the most ridiculous infractions, and no-one likes to post with the threat of an axe over their heads. Not to mention the irritating things that moderators do, like merging, moving and editing threads and posts when they shouldn't. Or sending self-righteous PMs to users. I've known some that have used words like "duty" and "honour" to describe what they do. **eyesroll**

Profanity Filters: Again NoooOOOOooo! Because, as we all know, it can be big and it can be clever to swear, and the users on here seem to be sensible enough to know when, and when not to do it. Of course, you will get the odd teen coming on and swearing away, which is one way of knowing they are just annoying kids. But again, they tend to be dealt with by other users

Emoticons: We really should have them. It stops any confusion as to the tone of a post when people use them. Some don't like them, true. But it does make things easier :)

Preview Post: It would also be nice to have a preview post feature as well :)

I only write here to tell that It has been 2 years now that I signed up, that and I'm very happy with gog :)

A lot more than steam

at first it was to buy old games, and now more and more new games come out on gog, without DRM. Choice is quickly done, between gog and steam, gog wins.

Even if the regional pricing made me a bit nervous when introduced, the prices look fair so it's ok. A lot fairer than Steam :)
(which is still in the mode 1$ = 1€ or worse)

Thank you for promoting the non DRM world, it great to see big games like age of wonders 3, wasteland 2, witcher 3 and some more go out on gog.

I Wish gog a great and long live :)
Well, just the past three hours I've lost plenty rep and I will keep losing more because someone is spamming downvotes (probably with several fake accounts) because he or she doesn't like our opinions on a thread. Even though rep is internet candy and I don't care very much about it, it still is annoying to see this being done. I suggest a safeguard against malicious use of the downvote and upvote buttons (I'm certain that this can be done the other way too).

That hasn't happened in a while; my old friend must be lurking around.

Well I guess they really are your friends now since they finally let you cross that 3rd star hurdle. ;)

It is a broken system that gets abused time and again by people for means which it certainly isn't intended for. Many people have complained about this and asked for the rep system to be improved but this thread unfortunately just serves as a means to keep all the complaints regarding the forum contained in a single place.

GOG has clearly stated that they don't have the resources to fix the many issues and requested features that a lot of people are asking for. They also haven't taken any initiative to hire anyone for this purpose which shows a clear lack of intent. I am really disappointed by this attitude because I was really hopeful when Judas created this thread that eventually some action would be taken on all this feedback.

Well, obviously I'm not expecting GOG to jump on this and fix it in the near future. :D But I'm just saying it should be added to the list of things that should be taken under consideration. They'll do what they can, if they can, when they can and there sure are bigger problems than this, but it really got me annoyed tonight so I thought I should give it dishonorable mention.

I wasn't talking about your concern or suggestion specifically, many many people have suggested this as something that seriously needs to be considered. There is a long history of abuse with the rep system and this latest incident is just the tip of the iceberg. The point is that many people come and stay here for the forum as well so the feedback given shouldn't just be shrugged aside indefinitely. :)
