So much for free speech:

"Gamers have got to just quiet down," Yee, D-San Francisco, said in an interview Tuesday. "Gamers have no credibility in this argument. This is all about their lust for violence and the industry's lust for money. This is a billion-dollar industry. This is about their self-interest."

So a "free speech" means that he shouldn't say what he thinks? Do you people even know what free speech means?

He's a State Senator from San Francisco and he's telling people they have no business voicing their opinions in a public debate. If that isn't anti-free speech, I don't know what is.

Remind me, but isn't Obama a gamer himself? Does that mean he isn't allowed to voice his opinion on this matter, according to Yee at least?

It's his opinion, declared as a senator, I give you that, but he has right to declare his dumb as fuck opinions and you have right to call them dumb as fuck. This is free speech.

Although, he tried to ban violent video games but Supreme Court said to him that he's fucking dumb, so that's ok.

Free speech is when both sides can say whatever the hell they think. Limiting freedom of speech would be if he would do something to shut people up.

Not really. He's been subtly anti-gaming since before his first campaign. He's not as vocal or irrational as other politicians on the subject, but he has been known to blame games for things like underachievement in schools, which is frankly more reasonable than blaming them for mass shootings.

I somehow recall him using an XBOX, so since the version they had given him was for PC, not really sure. Might be wrong though.

I'm not saying what his stance on the effects game have on growing kids, I'm asking if he accepts video games as a valid passtime for himself. As I said though, haven't really followed the subject.

The bigger problem is, as far as I know, all gifts president receives are displayed somewhere in white house behind a glass. So he got TW2 Collector's Edition and haven't even touched it :-(

If you want to respond to him though, don't say something clean and sanitary like "so much for free speech" That doesn't get attention. Say something equally headline worthy like "Sen. Yee hates the constitution and want's America (may God bless it) chained to the yoke of Communist Chinese Oppression!" and demand that he be investigated by the FBI as a Chinese spy.

Obama says he hasn't played a game since pong. That gamer stuff only started when he tried to trick you into voting for him. Also he blames games for making people fat and stupid(and probably indirectly implies they are to blame for the economy and job market at some point too)

Leland Yee isn't just any mindless politician, nor is he without what he considers to be suitable evidence. This does not mean he is right; he is as palpably wrong as he sounds. But it does not mean that his pronouncements should be treated as so much hot air the way Jack Thompson's were before he shot his own career through the gonads.

Like it or not, he has to be refuted, not ignored or dismissed.
